I'm not suprised; here's the article. LINK

LSU baseball games draw more digital viewers than anything else on SEC Network-plus. LSU’s conference baseball games this season averaged nearly 20,000 online viewers a game – tripling the league average of 6,572 for online-only SEC baseball games and leaving Kevin Wagner smiling.

All of those eclipsed the most-watched spring football game on SEC Network-plus, Alabama. It got 16,000 viewers, Wagner said.

It costs LSU $5,500 to produce each game, he said, and the network only covers $3,500 of that for the first 40 games. It pitches in just $1,500 for SEC Network-plus games after the 40. In total, LSU spent $280,000 in production costs on 60 games, and the network covered $149,000 of that.

Top 5 most-watched SEC Digital Events this Year

1. LSU at Alabama, April 4: 35,843
2. LSU at Alabama, April 2: 35,074
3. LSU vs. Kentucky, March 29: 32,987
4. LSU vs. Auburn, April 11: 32,238
5. LSU at Alabama, April 3: 31,442

I'm one of those online viewers, and very grateful for it. SECN+ has made it way easier to keep up for those of us living out of state.

$149k equals 46 games, not 60. It's time for LSU to negotiate 35 cents per viewer per game with a minimum of the 3,500/1,500. That would give LSU about 322k.

All three Alabama games were in the top 5. We pitched a bitch about those broadcasts.

Great to hear this. However comparing internet only games to BAMA spring game viewership isn't really fair. BAMA spring game was broadcast live on SECN, albeit part of whiparound coverage and replayed in its entirety way too many times since. Also had 65,000 in attendance at their stadium. Still great accomplishment for LSU baseball and its fans.

And LSU versus Bama only had one camera angle from behind the plate.

Not surprising at all.

There are maybe 6-8 schools that have truly consistently passionate fan bases in college baseball and one....LSU that is head and shoulders, easily above the other 5-7. And it's not even close and hasn't been for a long time.

What LSU has is truly one of a kind in a sport that nationally has very little following.

So this makes LSU national champions in attendance both in real life attendance & digital attendance. I'd like to see a breakdown by individual teams vs just giving the average league attendance of 6,000+. Any guesses as to which team ranked #2?
