Any idea when CPM will announce the official opening day lineup?

I think they usually have one last media availability for that kind of stuff at the Thursday practice. It will probably come there.

Really anxious to see who wins the job at 1B. Should be an on-going battle for most of the season.

Any body know the ticket situation for the Army-Airforce game on Friday afternoon?

In the past, I think these games have been free. I'd love a little day baseball if the weather is nice.

LSUSports.net has an article saying all of the non-LSU games this weekend offer free admission.
quote:

BATON ROUGE, La. – Baseball fans will be admitted free to four non-LSU games this weekend in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.

The extra games will be played in conjunction with LSU’s opening weekend slate of matchups versus UL-Monroe (Friday, 7 p.m. CT), Army West Point (Saturday, 2 p.m. CT) and Air Force (Sunday, 3 p.m. CT).

The extra-games schedule begins with Army West Point facing Air Force at 12 p.m. CT on Friday, and Air Force will meet UL-Monroe at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday. UL-Monroe meets Army West Point on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT, and Air Force takes on Southern University on Monday at 2 p.m. CT.

The stadium will be cleared whenever LSU is playing the second game of the day, and fans will need the proper ticket to be admitted to each game involving LSU.

Also, if you can get there for Air Force's batting practice, Nic Ready will probably put on a show. He hit some ungodly amount of HRs in the college HR derby last summer in Omaha.

They should let him and Garza have a competition.

It's probably going to be Bianco.

Depending on how he hits Friday I could see Beloso starting on Saturday and Willis on Sunday.

I'm really trying to keep my expectations for him in check. He is probably getting the most hype out of all the new Tigers not named Marceaux. I absolutely love his versatility.

I don't see it as versatility as much as trying to find a place he won't hurt us so much and still get his bat in the line up. Mainieri has said in the past that if a player can hit, he can be taught to play first base. Bryce Jordan, Sean Ochinko, Chris Chinea, Mason Katz, and others are examples of this philosophy.

Only Greg Deichmann couldn't learn to play first.

Right field worked out OK for him, though. That's why he wasn't on my list at 1st.
What I would really like for first base is a platoon of Bianco and Beloso with the hot bat getting most of the PT.

Don't agree there, he won't be judged by 1 game esp opening night! If he names Bianco the starter, which I agree he will, then he gives him the entire opening weekend over at 1st IMO. Beloso and Willis will get some AB's off the bench throughout the weekend and maybe a start in a midweek game at 1st or DH early on. CPM loves to say that he has a middle IF over at 1st even though I think, overall Beloso is better, again JMO.

It sure did.

I have the video saved on my computer of that throw Deichmann made from right field cutting down the Kentucky batter at first base who thought he had a base hit to right field.

ETA:
Here is the video....
