I guess the midweek games do matter these days because the big programs do not pitch there best but the small conference look at it has a regional and if they win they get in. The big programs get no credit for a midweek game but take a major hit if they lose, doesn't seem fair. So are they telling us not to schedule midweek games anymore?!?!?!?!

Not traveling to face any tough OOC and finishing at the bottom of the weak west division sealed the deal. I agree some of the teams in the field don't belong, but when they have so many automatic bids for the no names it screws everyone else.

Hmmm...looks surprisingly composed of schools that do not mean a single frick to College Baseball. The selection committee should be:
SEC Chair, chair
LSU person
Texas person
Rice person
CSF person
Stanford person
Pac 10 chair

How does Alcorn State and UALR and New Mexico make it in with losing freaking records!!!?? Also Princeton who we beat in the best out of 3 match up makes it in the Texas Reg with a damn23-22 record!! makes me sick

LSU has made college baseball the last 20+ years and while the team had some bad weekends this season to not be in the final field of 64 is an atrocity. fricking pathetic.
This...did PM sleep with someone's wife, or what??? I don't care if we didn't play in the SEC tournament, this is nuts, there are some pretty shitty teams that have no business being in over LSU, I smell some rat(s)...

Played them at home..doesn't count for LSU. Only counts for them.

The college baseball world doesn't revolve around LSU, bad season and got left out....that's life. Now you know how many teams feel each year. We could debate whether or not the team should be in but it doesn't matter, earn it on the field and they can't screw you.

All of this brings to mind the football anti-playoff fanatics whining that the regular season is diminished with post-season tournaments.

I do not agree with some of the teams that made it in, however I don't believe anyone can honestly say that we deserved to be included regardless. We finished in the bottom of the SEC standings and our conference wins came against the other bottom feeders. Our RPI was solid but we just didn't play the quality of ball that people have gotten used to seeing out of LSU. Face it, we just were not a good team this season. Sad to say, but I almost prefer to be left out and have people question it, than be included and prove the others right.

Stop, just stop. This is not on the NCAA or the selection committee. If you can't see that there are issues with the team, then you haven't been going to the games. This team is very undisciplined at the plate, it's little league coaching at best. I can't tell you of the number of times I sat behind home plate at the box counting the number of pitches by the opposing team only to discover that it was often between 25 and 30 into the 4th or 5th innings.
Small things add up to big mistakes. Like with a runner of first and second and the opposing team bunts, the ball is fielded by the catcher just on the infield grass, gets the out at first all the while the pitcher doesn't cover home, he just stands and watches the play...fundamentals, bad fundamentals. Or let's not forget two straight sliders called by our "pitching" coach (term used very, very loosely) at Arkansas in the bottom of the ninth...the first was hit 400' foul, the second was barely missed while being fouled straight into the backstop. Could it be possible that our head coach could look over to his "great" pitching coach and say "maybe we shouldn't throw that pitch again?". But, no he calls the pitch again, but this time it's hit 400' fair for a walk off homerun.
And, while there are numerous other examples, not the least of which is getting 2 runners thrown out at home plate in the same inning, I will leave with this final thought...there are 2 100% certainties in baseball, first, the 3-hole hitter will get a bat in the first inning of every single game. Secondly, if the 4-hole hitter doesn't get a bat in the first inning, then his first at bat will always be with no one on base, this is why most major league managers bat their best hitters in the 3-hole spot. Not our coach, it's simply little league coaching, put the best hitter in the 4-hole spot and it doesn't matter who is behind the plate.
In summary, this is totally, 100%, on CPM. No one else's fault.

Good point. Wonder how long b/f Newton gives back his Heisman ala Reggie Bush?
