Yea literally the only question in my mind in this situation is will Reid be the DH....I think it's a no brainer that when Smith is ready he'll be at 3rd and Hughes will stay at SS.
Reid will be an odd man out if Smith is healthy enough to play 3rd.
People don't want to hear this but Hughes is a better defensive SS than Smith. That's not a knock on Smith he has a great glove as well. At the same time we have to think realistically, how polished with Josh be throwing him into SS during SEC play coming off a back injury? Will fans all of a sudden get mad at coach if he's not able to field balls he should be? To dig deeper, Smith's bat is more important, if it were up to me it would be 3B or DH at the very least to start.
Then you have a log jam at DH, Cabrera has more range than Beau Jordan in LF but he's playing a bit timid so you can't fault the coaches for going with the senior as long as he's hitting for extra bases.
All in all DH and 1B will be a fun competition between
Bryce Jordan
Daniel Cabrera
Austin Bain
Jake Slaughter
Chris Reid
Nick Webre
The lineup isn't nearly as top heavy as in years past but it's much deeper than in years past.

I'm not sure why this seems hard for some people to understand.

He's going to get his at bats. At the same time as evidenced by the 20 page thread other players who are not right now have higher ceilings...that's nothing that can be argued with because it's true.
Those guys such as Cabrera, Slaughter, and Webre haven't shown consistency to warrant starting full time. It's only 1/3 of the season so they'll get their at bats.

I like Cabrera and I think Webre is going to be very good as well.

I agree. I think both of them will be superstars for us.
It seems like everyone expected Cabrera to be Bregman but lets be real. There aren't many Bregs out there

Like I said beau can't control if guys get on base ahead of him. Sure RBIs are great but they are not necessarily an indictment on him. And Watson just returned to the lineup.

Probably because we only watched Smith play three games.

News: #LSU freshman Nick Webre will not play today against Tulane after a scary collision with the tarp yesterday. Collided with such force to eject one of his teeth, root and all, through his upper lip.
Damn

Smith at SS, and Reid at 3rd looks like it gives you the best combo of batting and fielding.

But when you have a back injury like his, you really can't do anything.
I think you misconstrued the thread. This is about baseball.

You can't, but you can maximize your RBIs by driving in that guy from third with less than two outs without a base hit, driving the ball to the wall for extra bases with a runner on first, etc. and if Beau remains fourth or even fifth in the order; he will get his 40 RBIs.
