LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri announced on Friday that the Tigers have added left-handed pitcher Brandon Kaminer to the 2020 roster.

Kaminer is a 6-2, 185-pound southpaw from Wallace Community College in Dothan, Ala. He will enroll at LSU this month and have two years of eligibility remaining.

LSU now has three left-handed pitchers on its roster for the upcoming 2020 season – Kaminer, true freshman Jacob Hasty and redshirt freshman Easton McMurray.

“Brandon is a nice addition to our pitching staff,” Mainieri said. “Obviously, we have been in great need of left-handed pitching, and he will add to our staff in this critical way. He is a strike thrower with an advanced feel for his change-up and slider. Combined with a mid to upper 80s fastball that is capable of getting into the low 90s, we are of the belief that Brandon can contribute quickly to our pitching staff.

“He has been verbally committed to LSU for some time but we had to wait for him to complete his summer classes to graduate from the junior college before we could announce his signing.”

Looks like Kaminer got the good news on Tuesday. I saw some movement on this front on Wednesday. I been wondering when they would make the announcement.

Congrats to Paul for filling a basic need on the roster a year and a half late.

Better late than never realizing we needed lefties? Anyhow...good addition.

He committed to LSU on April 8th. This isn't some recent revelation.

ETA: LINK Here is a link to the post from the recruiting thread with links to his stats from his Fr year, So year, and the summer between those two.

Did you expect them to be added mid-season? I'm not making excuses for anything prior to this time last year, they definitely fricked that up. But once the fall started, there wasn't anything they could do, but somehow there are people on this board that expected them to suddenly shite out a few LHPs by the time SEC play rolled around.

Yay! Hope he has good movement on his pitches! Mid to upper 80's fastball could be concerning???

No..I expected them over the last 3 years. No one has been a bigger defender of PM...but this has been pretty bad... and he now realizes it.

The 2018 season falls within the last three years right?

The Astros don’t have a lefty pitcher on roster either.

Boy that Luhnow sure does know how to frick up a roster

Ya..if LSU had the equivalent of Verlander, Cole, Miley, and Greinke I wouldn’t worry either

Wait..Miley is a lefty

Get your facts out of the way of my very good argument. Thanks.

I've seen a few instances of teams going stretches this season with no LHPs in the bullpen. Usually not very long though.

It doesn't change the fact that we had more LHPs on the roster in 2018 than we will have in 2020 but gene said the problem has gone on for 3 years.
