2 lost series vs preseason top 5 opponents 1. We were 1 out away from winning the series. 2. Played neck and neck and had the lead against the #1 overall lefty (maybe) pitcher in general off the board when he left game. 3. Lost a game by 1 in extra innings at their home field in front of a record crowd.

Both teams player for player had more playing time experience than us, Pearson, White, Bingham are the only guys with a ton. Travenski has actually played like a year and a half. Nibbled in some games earlier in his career. We lost to miss state and that was disappointing but first road trip for a good bit of guys. Going to be fine, we put ourselves in a hole and probably no chance of hosting a super unless we turn things around quick. But still in contention to host a regional. I trust Jay he’s a baseball guru.

What do we need to finish in the SEC to host a regional?

6-4 we would for sure, I’m not sure the history but with our record out of conference and where we are ranked currently even after 0-2 start I would think 5-5 we would as well.

The guru's recruiting has been less than stellar so far, particularly if you consider Neal and Kling to be his big gets.

I’ve always thought they look at overall SEC record more so than series wins.

I am just curious how much they will take into account SOS. Say we finish 15-15. Would we host over a similar team with a slightly better SEC record but worse SOS?

Good question I’m not sure how they would view it but I know if they actually pay attention our 1 out away from beating florida and our battle with Arkansas on the road should speak a lot if they have to really compare us to another team

Do you mean all of the talent evaluators of Pro Baseball that had them highly rated? Perfect Game had Kling 19 overall ranking and Neil ranked 29th

They can be wrong too. The numbers, particularly in conference games, don't lie.

That's not going to happen with this team.

We didn’t get totally routed by Arkansas in any one game of the 3 just played! THEY had to play their best games yet to stay ahead of LSU! The Arkansas team is now where LSU was last season and the scores made by them were certainly NOT a rout over LSU! JJ is going through a discovery phase with a bunch of new guys and I see improvements being made; Henning discovered his wings work well his past session at the mound….Milam is swatting the ball better and Bingham is showing his long ball ability! Larson could be an asset with more time at bat! White has been doing better and proving he still can go long after coming back from shoulder surgery! Pearson and Neal have power hitting ability but are having a bit of trouble seeing good pitches from bad ones! Milazzo has shown definite improvement at bat and is gonna be OK! Hayden Travinski is having a disappointment problem with his at bats but this guy along with Jared Jones is stronger than two bulls! Both will continue to improve! Go Tigers!

Arkansas isn’t even where we were last year. They don’t have the same level of offensive production we did. Their pitching staff is where we were in the postseason tho

Excuses flying right and left from all the artificial vajayjay weaklings and their mediocrity accepting BS.

Cry me a river full of "We'll be Fine" pablum.

There should never be any ten run rule loses, getting swept by an SEC school or any type of down time declination for the mighty LSU baseball program........

FTR, in the last regular season series of the '97 season, we lost like 2-28 vs Bama.
