As a former Tiger Band member as well as a game attending fan at both the old and new Box for over 15 years, I would like to say this is not a good idea. Tiger Band is for football, period. Basketball pep bands is a different story. Baseball is an entirely different animal, one that nowhere uses or needs a band for the crowd. The energy that comes from the Alex Box crowd is more than enough without the band. As a band director now I can also say that the time and money needed to make that happen would only be a burden on both the students and directors, whom already do so much for their university.

i remember skip bertman doing this when i was a little kid .. he stopped it with the quickness at home games .. it was terrible .. trust me .. as far as i am concerned .. the band can go back to the band hall after the pregame march at football games too ..

In the 1980's there was a pep band from Tiger Band at some of the baseball games. We got paid for that, if I remember correctly. Anyway, we did that for a few games. It has been done at LSU and for Tiger Band people that give up so much time in the fall as well as those in the pep bands for various other sports.

It's a lot of time donated by bandmembers only to have their seats moved from the west side stands to the northwest corner of the stadium (while i was at LSU) now to the North end zone. If you want it that bad, have the athletic department move the band back to the Northwest corner.

seems like a terrible idea imho

why?

how about using an organ at tiger stadium....to incite the fans. Baseball has its traditions and football has its own traditions I say leave them how they are.

I don't think this is a good idea. It seems... awkward.

not at all .. the band just does nothing for me personally .. i tolerate it .. they have been doing the same halftime shows for about 20 years too .. that's why i never them anymore ... i am there to watch a football game .. not really listen to the band .. that's just me and my opinion .. i know i am not alone and i know you are not alone in yours ..

Not sure if serious

I'm just not a fan of our half-time shows, it puts the student section to sleep.

I brought up this same topic last year and got crucified. But I guess that it is a bad idea. Would really only want them there to play "Geaux Tigers" or "Pregame" live which would be a waste of their time.

A few years ago, maybe the year of the CWS win, athletics approached the directors and asked them to do some baseball games.

The deal was Bengal Brass would come in before the game and play songs while alternating with the PA similar to that of basketball and then do the national anthem. After this, the band would leave the stadium and wait for the 7th inning stretch when they would play again and the same for after the game.

The directors said thanks, but no thanks for obvious reasons

Having the band play at a baseball game is a bad idea, however an 80 year old woman on a pipe organ is cool.
