I have heard form people that Gainesville was their least favorite away game experience, but i am going anyway. Have some family in Jacksonville and travelling in from there on game day.

What do's or don't do yall have from your gameday experience in Gainesville?

unless they've changed their laws, they used to be pretty strict about open container, to the point of being chicken shite about it

Do not walk around with an open container. The cops there can be really picky about where you tailgate/drink.

Their bar scene before the game was cool and the fans were welcoming. But inside the stadium, the fans are giant dickheads

Don't try to sneak alcohol into the stadium. If they catch you they arrest you!

I watched a cop climb 42 rows of stairs to arrest two baws minding their own business when he saw their flasks under their seats. Meanwhile the drunken lush that was bugging everyone around her was allowed to stay.

Don’t go would be my opinion, we went once and will never go back.
Every person there is an arse clown. Cops are writing tickets for open containers by the hundreds. There is a cover charge at every bar. Inside the stadium is horrible, we left early out of an abundance of caution, we were getting threats from everyone.

Don’t go.

Cops are super strict.
Fans will try and fight walking in to the stadium
They’ll also travel around campus nuts to butt tandem scooters.

If there’s a chance of rain, the game will probably get cancelled

Worst road trip in the SEC. I realize you. Are staying in Jax, and driving in, that’s good as it’s almost impossible to get a hotel anywhere close to Gainesville.

Tailgating almost non-existent, but a decent row of restaurants and bars along University Avenue.

Florida fans prior to the game are ok.
Better hope we win as the Florida fans are significantly far more hospitable after a loss than a win. If we were to lose, which I don’t think we will, but if we were to, the FL fans are, by far, the worst, most obnoxious, a-hole fans you will ever encounter.

I go every time we play there. Really enjoy the trip

We always tailgate at Reitz Union. Easy access for indoor bathrooms and such for women and children

Stay on Archer Road near I 75. Easy access to campus and plenty of places to eat and drink around there as well

Drinking on campus is 100% legal. You can only get a ticket if you are off campus with open alcohol. And even so, I have only ever seen those tickets written for people being obnoxious

quote:

Individuals 21 years of age or older are permitted to possess and consume alcohol on UF property during the designated tailgating hours, 6:00 a.m. game day and up to 3:00 a.m. post-game.

If you would like, you can also purchase tailgates to be fully setup for you with tvs and such. Up to you

It really was my worst experience to an away game and I've been to every stadium.

Smells like weed everywhere right off campus, zero drinking, mean people yelling at you during and after game, no southern hospitality and just a crappy bar scene due to the type of fans.

Don't go.

Biggest “DONT”: don’t walk around campus or Gainesville property (ie sidewalks) with open container or you will be ticketed. For some reason, drinking at the tailgate is fine but they don’t want mobile drinks It’s so chickensht!

Been twice. It's fine to drink at your tailgate if you just put it in a cup. Premixed drinks into 20oz diet coke bottles to keep it low key and didn't get bothered walking around. Just don't be a dick.

You will never see more denim in a stadium in your life. Atmosphere is great. I don't have too much desire to go back....

this is all correct. Too many other posters on this board just hate the Gators so they let that infect their opinion of the trip.

The campus is beautiful, tailgating is everywhere, and the stadium is a great environment. I've been to the Swamp probably 20 times (and 10 of those were LSU games) and it's a good trip every time. Never been treated badly by fans, never been hounded by cops.

Just don't be an arse and all will be good (and that advice applies everywhere).

I don't know why they are so scared. I have tried asking numerous times over the years and cannot get access. Chicken needs to do something about this. If someone violates a rule, they can be banned.
