LSU Athletics announced the addition of beer and wine sales in public areas of Tiger Stadium along with its policies and procedures for alcoholic beverages. The policy, which includes a fan code of conduct, promotes responsible consumption along with a safe and enjoyable environment for all fans.

quote:

“This is all about enhancing the fan experience, responding to the feedback from our fans and doing it responsibly,” LSU Athletic Director Scott Woodward said. “It’s a big addition to our events and we believe it will be a positive one overall, but we are going about it with the appropriate mindset and thorough planning.”

Beginning in the fall of 2019, beer and wine sales will be available for fans ages 21 and over inside Tiger Stadium. Aramark, LSU Athletics’ concessionaire, will sell a variety of domestic and imported beer as well as red and white wines at most concession stands inside Tiger Stadium. The sales of alcoholic beverages will end at the conclusion of the third quarter in football.

quote:

The announcement follows new SEC policies adopted this spring allowing the sale of beer and wine in public areas of athletics venues within certain parameters. Among the provisions, the policy requires that all beverages must be served in a cup and that no more than two alcoholic beverages be purchased per transaction. Each transaction will require a valid ID.

quote:

Concession stands nearest the student section will not sell beer and wine. LSU will reserve limited stands for volunteer groups who do not wish to sell alcoholic beverages.

quote:

Prices for alcoholic items have not yet been determined. The sale of beer and wine in public areas of other athletics venues is currently under review.

quote:

Alcoholic Beverage Policy:
- The possession or consumption of alcohol not sold in the venue is expressly prohibited.
- No more than two alcoholic beverages may be purchased per transaction.
- Alcoholic beverages must be poured into a cup. A valid ID is required for each transaction.
- Alcohol will not be served to fans who are visibly intoxicated.
- Alcohol sales will end at the conclusion of the third quarter of the game for football.

They are going to have to bump the prices up so Tiger Stadium doesn't get filled with more riff raff.

Since it’s Aramark, I have full confidence that this will be a complete disaster.

Everything else in the conditions seems reasonable. This however is what i'm looking at the most.

If Abita's The Boot isn't on tap, they're doing it wrong.

Having to walk a few hundred feet more to the NE corner concession area will deter a college student from alcohol??

I can see why pricing will take a little while to develop. Think of it as a business - the logistics of distributing alcohol throughout the stadium are significant, you have to predict demand based on location, because redistribution mid game is not viable. Secondly you have to anticipate overall demand so that the supply lasts into the third quarter. As is the case with any business, pricing is a function of available supply and demand. Thirdly, there is a lot of pressure to get pricing right, because any increase in price after an initial price is set will upset customers.

This is beyond dumb. I’m a student and I’m just gonna walk to wherever I can buy it, and I know I’m not alone. All this will do is cause more congestion in other parts of the stadium

Wonder how they're going to handle the PMAC. After all, the only concession stand on the lower level is directly behind the Maravich Maniacs, or whatever we're calling them these days.

Sooo implying they don’t run out by the time you get there, it’ll be a warm beer. Great

It’s common policy for other college stadiums, simply a optics thing.
