Thanks, but I disagree. As a Tiger fan he has every right to want a failed coach fired, just as we do.

I'm backing the State and Governor. I've said this in other posts, but BK was in semi-retirement mode. It's been coming out about his lack of work. Taking vacation during the off week, seriously? This guy thought that since moron Les Miles and Cajun Orgeron could win a NC at LSU, surely his Boston arse could do it while putting in half the effort. BK, shouldn't get a dime in my opinion, but he will get around $30 million. BK is the worse coach since Curly Hallman.

This Puppet-Ausberry-BOS-Jethro-Landry-controlled LSU Athletic Department would frick up a one-car funeral.

Zero surprise pride has taken this stance

How is LSU “acting in a disgusting manner”?

The whole fricking country hated BK until now

That’s the whole point, dumbass. The sheer incompetence of LSU trying to weasel out of the buyout by trying to fire BK for cause after it’s too late and would never happen anyway has made BK the hero and LSU the villain.

Nothing to blame but LSU’s incompetence. But I’m sure the real scenario here is hard to grasp for you guys who spend your work day saying “Do you want fries with that?”

Negotiating a lump sum is not a surprise and is expected hence Kelly’s email.

LSU shouldn’t do their due diligence?

hiring an old coach and paying an insane amount of money is what was embarrassing. Thank goodness Scott was shown the door along with CBK.

I never was a Brian Kelly fan. They dug themselves a deep hole when they hired this guy, and especially for that much money.
They should now quietly pay the guy!
They are already looking foolish in the public eye. The last thing they need now is having coaches seeing that LSU is going to do anything they can to not pay a coaches contract. What good coach is going to want to sign a contract with LSU, when they see that LSU is going to try everything they can to not honor the contract they negotiated.
Bite the bullet, and get on with the next coaching hire. As much as I hate to say this, they should take a lesson from Texas A&M.

It's 100% obvious LSU leaders acted in a rash, knee-jerk decision mid game against A&M and had no plan on how to execute what they wanted.

Just like the Les Miles fiasco after (of course) an A @ M game. Damn aggies costing us a lot of money.

His email very easily could have implied been that he will take his buyout over the course of additional time to free up cash flow for LSU. That could have been the “settlement” which happens often

There is no chance he was ever accepting half or close to half

I guess your question was a matter of “want”, which sure, he can want whatever he pleases.

But I do not think he should have inserted himself in the process. He had to backtrack later, it was a ridiculous and unnecessary moment.

You said there was no time for negotiation.

It absolutely was the time of negotiation and I’m sure LSU said or implied they would look for other ways to mitigate the buyout if he didn’t accept an offer trying to twist his arm.

He is now trying to reverse that and put the squeeze on LSU

How is firing a terrible coach going to negatively effect LSU football?

It's not the firing...it's the trying to lie and not honor a signed contract both sides agreed on. That's a big negative! Pay Kelly and move on.

And I stand by that.

If Kelly is OK with spreading what he is owed out, that’s fine.

But actively “negotiating” out a settlement on a contract you offered to a coach while actively looking for a new one, is a bad look.

If they have cause, that’s a different story. If they don’t, they need to agree to pay him 54M over whatever period and move on. We wrote the contract, not Kelly.

I agree with you to some extent, but I recognize that politicians, business men, and media personalities have all come out with there opinions on the matter. Had the Gov. worked behind the scenes it would have been considered a scandal when leaked. I guess I just don't assume any person of power who cares would sit on their hands.
