Oh don't worry.

Brady's the toast of the town now but the fanbase will be after him with torches in a couple of years. That's just the way it goes here.

This is so naive. Brady brought in concepts, plays and knowledge is schemes. Ensminger was a quarterback and a career coach. You don’t E could quickly understand and assimilate what Brady brought?
My guess is a lot of folks could have brought in RPO etc concepts.
I’m not downplaying Brady’s contribution because it’s obvious but E is no neophyte.
Make him co-OC and pay him but don’t throw E under the bus.

I love Steve. He’s a tiger through and through. But we weren’t scoring 46 on Bama until Brady got here. E might call some plays, but that’s Brady’s offense.

Take it for what its worth:

quote:

Cody Worsham @CodyWorsham · 1m Ed Orgeron on Joe Brady: "We're going to compete to keep him. A guy like that is going to have opportunities. All that will happen after the season. Joe is worried about breaking down Ole Miss' coverage right now. He's not even thinking about that."

No one is getting thrown under the bus. But you don't build a powerhouse by trying to avoid hurting people's feelings, not that I think E's feelings would be hurt.

Brady is the future. He's earned this.

Totally agree with this 110%

I also agree we don't want to through Steve under the bus, hopefully after this season he will retire and just turn the reigns over to Brady.

If the offer is legitimately $1.5+, he's OC and Steve will move to a lesser role. Maybe just QB coach?

We have NO idea about Brady's ability to coach QB.

Steve ensminger is Not going anywhere. He will still be on staff in some capacity

I never said SE was leaving.

But I do think this could react negotiation with Brady is to be the OC next year. Weather they admit that publicly or not is another story

My prediction is that shortly after the season ends SE resigns as OC, stays on staff in some capacity (TE coach, analyst maybe) and Brady takes over as OC.

My post was not a knock on SE just reading between the lines that Brady is OC next season

Brady was a WR and has never coached QBs. If he is the offensive coordinator, then Ensminger or someone else will have to be QB coach.

Also, Brady has never called plays in his life, and that goes way beyond just knowing the plays or constructing an offense.

For people to just assume he is calling the plays, while Ensminger is drooling in the press box is silly.

My bet would be he is named offensive coordinator and Ensminger is dropped down to QB coach. They would still be in the booth together and E would retire after another year or two.

It would behoove Woodward, Orgeron, Brady and Ensminger to, with a single voice, shut this thing down right now. Let them continue their discussions, but do everything possible to take the media and the twitterverse out of it. It can only be a distraction for the team.

Ensminger is a local LSU guy. You can be sure that if Brady leaves that Orgeron will want to continue with this style of offense and Ensminger will have a role in that transfer of knowledge.
