If true, this presents some interesting legal arguments. In essence, the SEC is preventing Freeze from being employed not by the league, but by one of their member schools.

I agree, it does present an interesting argument. However, it is unlikely that any member school would be the one to make the argument, as it is Freeze that is most effected. And while an argument could be found for him, he would have a very difficult time proving the argument. He would need to have someone testify to the fact that the league office specifically and directly told a member school they could not hire Freeze and what said repercussions would be for doing so. Highly unlikely anyone would step forward to do that.

There you go again trying to use intelligence and logic on the Rant.
At no time must any reference to Alleva be anything but fire breathing, mindless hatred.

If there are any functioning brains left around here, they might see the motivation behind Stanky's move. The bimbo phone thing wasn't the most damaging item against Freeze. It was the serious probation he got Ole Miss into that left a major stain on the SEC brand.

Did Stanky over react? Maybe. Freeze's actions were an embarrassment to the entire conference so I can see Stanky's reasoning. Was it fair? Considering the money at stake, yes. Freeze needs to serve some time in purgatory.

Now let's open the discussion up to:

A few questions:

Do you think we could have done better than Ensminger?

What are you expectations, in terms of W/L record for next season?

Obviously you're thrilled with O's performance thus far, but what kind of results would you need to see next year to remain as satisfied with O as you are now?

What kind of results next year would it take for you to lose a measure of faith in O?

Didn’t Orgeron say Ensminger was his choice all along?

. Can you explain why you could see O take a tight end coach that hasn’t run his own offense in 20 years and make him the offensive coordinator?

Don’t y’all think if Saban really wanted him, he / Bama have the kinda conference stroke such that “expected to be consulted” clauses don’t apply to him / them? I mean that’s what we’ve been telling ourselves for several years around here.

Man, if I’m freeze, and the article is right/truthful, and a couple coaches (O, Saban, whomever) wanted to hire me and couldn’t because of what is basically a blackball attributable to unauthorized poon, help me out lawyers, doesn’t he have a claim? Don’t know what he’s making now, but I’d assume he for sure has damages.

That isn't the point of the thread.

The point is that LSU was prevented from hiring Freeze by Stankey.
The point is that Alleva could't have hired him if he or Orgeron had wanted.

Any mention of the names of Alleva and/or Orgeron send a lot of you into frenzy of mindless rage regardless of the context of that mention.

Now back to the Binder......................

Because they aren't germane to the issue at hand.

My opinions of the hiring process have nothing to do with Stankey's decision.

My opinions regarding the future performance of any of the staff has nothing to do with Stankey's decision.

Most importantly none of my ideas or opinions matter to Stankey or any body else in a position of power. And you know what else: that applies to yours too. So get over yourselves.
You don't fricking matter. You really don't. You are insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

But my point remains, any mention, whatever the context, of the names of Alleva and/or Orgeron brings out the idiot chorus in full force.

A legal expert is quoted on the first page saying that Sankey can't legally prevent any school from hiring Freeze, only that the bylaw requires he be consulted first.

Right I read the OP and understand the point. I wasn’t one of the ones freaking out about hiring Freeze fwiw. I didn’t ever really see it as viable at this point. Interesting and commendable that we actually reached out to him though. Sankey is trash.

Now can you address my previous questions?

I don't know how Orgeron will do and neither does anybody else. You included.

What I do know is it is fait accompli and all of the daily pissing and moaning will change NOTHING; will accomplish NOTHING.

My position, if it matters and I assure you that like yours and every body else's it does not matter, is to wait and see. It is impossible to know the future. No body would have predicted the massively positive effect an undersized quarterback from Purdue would have on the game of football but look what happened.

In the matter of Stankey, it is generally a good thing to not piss off a man in is position. Say what you will, he made Alabama back off. That should give some idea of the power he holds. Which as I recall is the original subject of this thread.
