The flagship university has some of the most relaxed entry standards in the state.
That happened in the Fall of 2018. Tate was appointed in May 2021. In February of 2022, he lifted the mask mandates put in by his predecessor.
You need to pay attention.
Facts are such an inconvenient thing when they point out the opposite narrative one wants so badly.

I think Tate did a wonderful job. I think Landry pushing him out and some of the other things Landry is doing have been the wrong courses of action.
The thing is Huey P Landry wants 100% loyalty. You've seen it amongst some Legislators with whom he was allies previously, but just to even question him is not something he takes well.
I'm sure Tate had questions and concerns about the planned move to join some other states/university boards in this new accreditation initiative, and maybe in the end, this will be the correct move by Gov. Landry. I don't know enough about that stuff to have an opinion one way or the other.
But I'm sure the mere questioning of it by Tate drew the ire of Landry to want him gone.

Right right. It was philosophical differences.
The good ol boys in Louisiana couldnt live another day with a black man, and a successful one at that, being the President of the LSU system. Privately Landry promised his supporters this would be the first thing he did. Took him a minute but he got it done.

To his credit, he never let that affect his job performance, and I think reasonable people (the Governor is not in that number) were sad to see him go

Might as well get paid at Rutgers with a stress free job as no one cares about athletics
Not so fast my friend. Rutgers athletic department is in debt. They had to take loans so to speak from the big ten in tv money advances to pay for upgrades and enlargements in the athletics department. Financially Rutgers is more stressful that LSU. Rutgers has about 250 million dollars owed in the athletics. It is a big ten school though and if Schiano can improve things, Rutgers can be a thing in NJ. They will never be like LSU in Louisiana, but there is potential. If the NJ Devils can be a thing in New Jersey you can't tell me that Rutgers football can't be something.

It really speaks to a lot of people's opinion that Tate wasn't the problem
In the words of Nick Saban, "successful people don't like mediocre people". Louisiana is ran by mediocre people, and that doesn't stop at the people that control LSU. We're a "what's in it for me" French people mindset. It's concerning to me that Jeff Landry will have a lot of sway in who fills this vacancy.

Rutgers has a lot of money:
The Rutgers Board of Governors on Wednesday approved a five-year contract for Keli Zinn that makes the longtime college administrator the highest-paid athletic director in school history.
Zinn, who is currently the executive deputy athletic director and chief operating officer at LSU, will make an initial base salary of $1.35 million that can rise annually if the athletic department hits any of the multiple incentives in the deal, according to a reading of her contract at the Board of Governors meeting where it was approved.

Going to need a few nudes to assess this loss.

Considering the financial position of Rutgers athletics, is this really a move up?
