Sometimes it works out, and with a 4 run lead I don't hate it, but that was a shallow fly and the OF was running in. He not only got beaten by the throw, but he also missed the bag. Definitely lucky.

So you let the ball go through if the SS is calling "cut, cut, cut" That is not how the game is played. You have no idea what the SS was yelling nor do I, but you have to assume that the 2B doesn't cut unless the SS yells Cut. This is totally on the SS, not on the 2B.
