First off, it’s incredibly difficult to win on the road in the SEC. Auburn, who is one of the hottest teams in college baseball, and no doubt leads LSU in every offensive category just got their shite pushed in by unranked Ole Miss in Oxford.

People keep talking about how many runs they scored last weekend, but they all seem to have forgotten that Auburn had to walk USC off in Game 2. Credit to them for closing and getting the sweep, but that shite happens every weekend in the SEC.

Teams have to play great to win on the road in this league and we obviously didn’t tonight.

That’s a fair point. I just don’t feel good about our stud closer losing to South Carolina

And cowan has had some rough outing lately.
We also aren’t going anywhere without him.

The only thing I feel good about is Anderson and Eyanson throwing 10ks in their outings.

Unfortunately, it’s a team sport and it’s a crapshoot how the rest of the team will do.

Yeah I've been here for 23 years and I'm alter from another school. Some people man.

Maybe I have you pegged wrong, but this board is populated by a lot of assholes and trolls who legitimately ONLY come out to talk shite when things go wrong. Calling that bullshite out is NOT pumping sunshine. I support this team through good or bad, no matter what and I’ll say frick off to any troll or alter I meet here.

And second to the trolls and alters who love this place are the fricking try-hards who are very obviously hoping for an outcome they have predicted over this team having success. Anyone who does this is not a real fan and there are plenty of them here, as well.

Me- if I’m critical of any LSU player or coach and they prove me wrong, I’m fricking THRILLED.

Luck runs out in Omaha when you don’t have a bullpen.

We literally gave up a 9 run lead and lost to a State team that didn’t even make the SECT 2 weeks before the postseason in 2023. Many of us gave up on the team having any shot in Omaha. I didn’t even think we would get through the Super Regional.

I was very happy to be proven wrong and learned to not come to conclusions regarding the postseason ahead of getting there.

I like your optimism, but you honestly feel like the 2025 team is comparable to 2023?

Jay would be the first to say that’s the best team he’s ever had.

There are not many worse ways to lose a ball game than a walk off wild pitch / passed ball. Ouch

First off, there isn’t a team in the field this year that could hold a candle to those LSU, Wake, or UF teams. We don’t have to run that gauntlet.

Second, 2023 was a mediocre defensive team with a pen that was just as shaky and had less overall talent than this one. We lost games that season because of those flaws. The team overcame those flaws when it mattered. It’s not about how good 2023 was. It’s that they raised their floor when it mattered by shoring up their weaknesses.

My point was that this team obviously isn’t playing their best baseball right now, but have still been able to will their way to some clutch victories in spite of that. If they can get on track, they can beat anyone in this field at home or on a neutral field. I can’t rule that out after seeing it happen just two years ago.

I guess they don't want the double bye in the SEC tournament. Can't afford to lose games against bad teams especially with the SEC standings being tight.

People forget that. It is also true that all the same things people are saying about why this team has no shot in the CWS were being said in 2023 except for the specifics of the hitting critiques. Then it was "you just can't count on HRs to win you games like this team does", now it's the timely hitting critique (which does cause concern) and the defensive critiques were significant then.

I’d bet the farm LSU wins the next two games by wide margins.

All of yall panicking and calling for Johnson’s head are hilarious. Typical rant reaction.

Please show me where I was panicking. I only agreed with someone about people being too dismissive of this team.

We pitched our Sunday night game first to give our starters the rest. We still should have won, and I expect us to win the next two.

Epilogue: South Carolina’s outfield made some spectacular catches during the game and LSU’s outfield shite the bed.

South Carolina played with nothing to lose. LSU’s outfield was a scared cat. Need to be aggressive and attacking.

Other aspects of the game were lacking. The outfield defense seems to be a glaring weakness.

Did anyone ever figure out what happened when the ball was hit to CF & it took forever to get to the cut off man?

I know it took a crazy bounce left when Stanfield was standing more centered. Don’t know if it was spin or if it just bounced different then he expected

One big difference between that team and this one is how many veterans we had in the lineup. Now, they did NOT have experience being in Omaha or playing for high stakes, as we struggled at the end of Paul’s tenure and were just back to good in Jay’s first season. But they had been through the grind and were mentally tough, and you saw them flip that switch in the postseason. This team needs to find that gear, but they obviously haven’t been able to often enough on the road in the regular season.

Curiel may be the closest to Crews we’ve had in the last two years, but he’s still a true freshman, not the fully developed version who lead that 23 squad into the postseason. We’ve definitely seen sophomore slumps from Milam at the plate, Brown in the field, and especially Larson just overall.

This team is a little younger and less seasoned than 23, but they still have guys like Bear and Frey who are capable of stepping up and being those kinds of leaders when they are at their best. We need to see that today, tomorrow, and in the SECT.
