Here's a link from last years Paradise jam. We got swept out by ODU and Clemson. A ton of posters in this thread then predicted that we had no shot to make the the tournament, Jones sucks, Jarell sucks, we have no heart, blah blah blah. One guy even posted that losing in this tournament would be the major reason we wouldn't make the NCAAT because of this tournament. According to him the committee weighed these tourneys more than regular games. But we made the NCAAT despite apparently being the worst team to ever grace a hardwood court. The all important Paradise Jam proved to be completely inconsequential.

My point is this. Trying to predict how we'll play 3 months from now based off a tournament in New York is fricking ludicrous. You plebes freaked out the same way again this year and you all need to gain a little perspective. This doesn't matter. Come selection time the committee doesn't care about these events. Chill the frick out and have a little faith in our team.

Well said, and missing 2 key players that will be back this time next month means this tournament will matter even less. It'll really come down to how we do in SEC play.

all thrown together for one big street ball crud-fest.

Its not really STREETBALL!!!!!!!!! Its 1 distributor and 4 shooting guards RIGHT NOW until C Victor and K Hornsby return. Our best advantage is transition baskets and ACCURATE shooting. Malone, Bridgewater, Epps and even ERIII aren't serviceable in the post defensively or rebounding Our team looks better scoring in transition due to athleticism but then you probably don't like the NBA either... your other points are valid as far as defensive positioning and blocking out. If they would teach J Gray to penetrate and dish to Simmons, and Simmons getting a mid-range shot to aide Hornsby along with Victor protecting the rim LSU would be unstoppable!!!

Never underestimate how poorly JJ can make a very talented team look.

Have you seen him. He definitely looks like he can protect the rim.

No, I have not seen him. I do know he was unable to make much of a mark on an admittedly talented Arizona team in his limited time there.

So I'm taking a bit of a show me position, hoping of course he does just that because we really need that. Elbert is better but still, not the defending, rim protecting, rebounding force we need and none of the other bigs appears ready to fill that void either. We need the Victor we are all hoping for.
