re: LSU 'Booger' McFarland says Les Miles' seat is getting warm

All the issues with the lengths of contracts validates this. Top ten recruiting class upon top ten recruiting class and not getting 10 wins will not cut it. Blame the quarterback play, blame the early departure of undergrads, blame all the recent transfers, blame whomever. Ultimately, it's on Les. I wish we weren't in this boat, but it is what it is.

I don't know the answer to this, so I'm truly asking those that actually are in the know, but if you traded out Miles for someone else, but kept all of the same assistants, would we be better off? I think so much of Miles' success is tied to recruiting and success at the skill positions (minus QB), so if you get rid of Miles, do you lose most of the staff? I personally think this is a dream team of sorts among collegiate staffs, so that has to be considered. Sadly, I think Cameron is one of the weaker links. We are so close to competing for a championship every year, but the offense is the problem. We need to quit trying to turn everyone into NFL-ready QBs. Are we in the business of selling HS QBs on becoming an NFL-ready QB, and having limited success due to sophisticated defensive schemes and the fact that it takes a while for QBs to get it, or are we in the business of winning games?
I want to win games. I don't give a shite if we have the #1 pro-style QB if that means 2 years of struggles while the QB "learns" the NFL system. Give me the best players that will win games in college. Even the most defensive-minded coaches like Patterson have conceded to this and are having a ton of success due to it.
I know, TLDR

Barring a total collapse, the powers to be are not going to screw up this recruiting class by firing the coach.

Some of you guys are crazy!! LSU is definitely gonna win more than 6 games, and I know that 100%.. Les isn't going anywhere unless he doesn't win more than 8 in 2016.. Then the seat gets a little warmer. Everybody needs a chill pill.

Thanks for the fresh info Booger.

I'm with you. It's ridiculous to see other teams score points year after year whereas lsu requires NFL ready talent at every position to be decent. Auburn and TCU don't appear to regret ditching the pro style.

Les will be at LSU (if he "wants") a long time after Booger moves on.

Coming from a huge positiger....
Abso-fricking-lutely it is. He's going into his third season rebuilding that loaded 2012 team. I don't care if chavis was chowing down on nachos and brick had two thumbs up his arse, He should have foreseen portential road blocks and intervened.
I know the SECW is wide open, so I'm fine with 10-3. Anything less is scalding hot seat.
eta: scalding isn't probably the in the cards at 9-4, but you've got a lot of pissed off fans

Miles will be here until he decides to retire. That is all.

Because Miles knows that talent is how you win in college football. Yes you can have a Miss st team full of starting seniors have a good year every once in a while but no cfb program has sustained success without talent.

Well if he starts losing more than 5 games , even the most staunch Miles ssupporters will jump ship. Myself included.

Les Miles seat isnt even warm. Last season
LSU had an extemely young and inexperienced team and two malcontents for coaches. Les is going nowhere.

Lol, LSU fans are gonna hate Miles by the end of his tenure.

Aliens could land on the Parade Ground tomorrow, but I don't expect that to happen either.

I think the X factor will QB play. If LSU loses 5 or more due to poor play from under center, I think that makes Miles' leash a lot shorter.
I don't care what the X's and O's reasons for it are. The typical fan and booster can identify bad QB play from a mile away.
With the exception of Mett (who wasn't even developed from his freshman year by Miles' staff) in 2013, a Les Miles managed team has yet to put a consistently efficient QB on the field that was actually recruited and developed by Miles' staff.
If that is a problem yet again, I believe people will start to recognize that the QB problem seems to start from the top.
-Jarret Lee
-Jordan Jefferson
-Anthony Jennings
-Gary Crowton
-Steve Kragthorpe
-Cam Cameron
-Les Miles
Only one of the above has been a constant at LSU since 2008.

I just want to see results, not more excuses. With the alleged great talented classes Les has presided over, it seems to me there should be far more in the results dept and far fewer coaching brain farts and excuses. I love Les on one level; but that seat should be warm and getting warmer by the day - until potential and outcomes get in sync. Or until it is totally clear that under Les, they can't or won't.
