Rodney Mallett, spokesperson for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), confirmed Thursday, Oct. 22, that the speed limit between Bob Pettit Boulevard and Brightside Drive is being reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph.
Yeah, that's not gonna work

Hopefully that's a temp change until they can start the real projects for fixing this issue

Wtf is that going to do? Nobody obeys the speed limit there regardless of the signage

I guess no one wants to break the law speeding while they are committing another felony.

I'm sure all the DUI drivers will make sure to obey the speed limit when they crash through barricades.
Feel good response that does nothing. Like banning firearms in a school zone.

The problem was not the sign attempting to limit the speeding. There will be no change in the decisions of the people who caused deaths just because a sign has a different number.
Those people will just drive more erratically and dangerously to get past the slower drivers.

They're about to ticket the shite out of everyone and the lowered speed limit will put most over the speed category that'll pack a punch to the wallet and insurance.

That won't impact people driving at 2am leaving Tigerland.

for a week. Then they will return to their usual routine which seldom involves traffic enforcement.

the dumbass in the latest fatality blew through barricades. I don't think a speed limit is going to matter to someone like that.

Because drunk Altima drivers can read a speed limit sign
Posted on 10/22/26 at 1:40 pm to nicholastiger
What a crock of shite.

Holy overreaction, Batman. What a stupid fricking decision.
Stupid, backasswards logic of local government, because of course.
Have they tried putting up a sign saying not to drink and drive and run over people? Maybe that would help.

Wasn't the main factor in that crash the driver's intoxication? I haven't heard that speed had anything to do with it.
Typical fricking Louisiana bullshite reaction to a problem.

Maybe the police will be more likely to pull someone over if the speed limit is lower and stop a drunk driver from hitting someone?

Still no streetlights or sidewalk. Maybe we'll get those after the next death.

Right…the deaths aren’t actually happening on the road, are they?

Is apparently racist. Reading the comments on the social media posts, they are all screaming about why the speed limit wasn’t lowered for a black girl who was hit on Plank a while back.
What isn’t racist now?
