Anyone who says baseball is boring, that was the second most intense game I’ve watched on tv. The first in 96. Today’s college baseball has so much talent.

100% agree. Every play, every pitch factored into a win or loss. People bitching about it being boring didn’t ever play at a medium or high level.

It felt like the college baseball equivalent of 9-6

What made the 2023 game more “well played” than the 1996 game? One great play by Tre Morgan? Two pitchers dominated that game.

Pitchers are players. Yes, it was a beautifully pitched game, and there were a number of good plays - not just Tre’s, which was brilliant. The talent level was way better in that 2023 game than in the 1996 game.

The wife and I were behind home plate. We switched hats for the win. You knew being there it was a game to soak up. Doubtful that experience will be repeated.

Sure from a pitching standpoint, but that Miami team had Pat Burrell and Alex Cora and the LSU team obviously had Warren Morris, so it's not like there wasn't a bunch of future MLBers not in that game. Also more talent doesn't inherently make it a more entertaining game.

I think a lot of people arguing this haven't actually watched the 96 CWS championship game in its entirety, just the final pitch.

...if that game had ended with a 80 yard TD pass, yes.

Some people need scoring to appreciate the game. But, as another poster said, that game was very intense.

The MIami game never felt that way. It always felt like we could score runs.

Oh, I thing 1996 was the more entertaining game. Not for me, because I love the suspense of a defensive struggle in most sports, but most prefer a back and forth offensive game.

It was an epic matchup for sure.

I'm still not over how impressive Tommy Tanks' walk-off was. It was an ultra high pressure situation with the game on the line, WF changed pitchers right before Tanks' at-bat so he had been standing around waiting for several minutes, and then had to face one of the best closers in the country. First pitch launches a no-doubter. The definition of clutch

No, I think Miami and LSU was a better game; much more drama. I also think the 2000 LSU/Standford game was better too..

I think that was the greatest pitching duel in the CWS.

That’s definitely a top 5 game in history. One of my first LSU baseball memories was that game. Made me fall in love with the team

What a great rewatch. Incredible game. Best CWS game finish I have ever witnessed.**

**I say this b/c I still remember I got up to pee real quick as Warren Morris was getting up to bat and I missed his walk off homer against Miami.

Out of all of our national championship runs, that may have been the most exciting from beginning to end.

The Wake Forest fans were worse than any fans I've ever dealt with in person. Absolute garbage humans.

Well their coach was caught on camera calling Andrew Fischer a fricking **** recently so not shocking their fans suck too. Although Fischer was probably the most unlikable guy in college baseball this year

The coach was right.

He’s also a great coach.
