My sentiments exactly... better than funding some bs study on how kids act after caffiene or some stupid crap like that. at least this is going to help us recruit and will be nicer to attend events at the PMAC.

It needs to be updated and I had no idea that the cost would be so great. How much for new? But as I’m reading this I’m traveling as a passanger across the miss river bridge wondering when this one lane will be addressed instead of studied. Now I’m wondering if this assembly center project goes through the red tape the bridge has wasted

The building is used for a ton of stuff other than basketball.
Also they need to look at this as an economic investment and start using the PMAC for concerts again. If the state puts up money the building needs to become a revenue generator for the state.
Also a $100 million renovation is not what we need. We need a tear down and rebuild.
I agree with all of this, but I would like to hear some real engineers with experience in arena renovations discuss what is possible and what is not before I say we absolutely need a tear down. With $100m, they could essentially rip out everything but the walls and ceiling and start over.
Question would be where do we play basketball for the 2-3 years it takes to complete?

Ole Miss built an entire new arena in 2016 with less than $101M.

They renovated the engineering bldg into a very nice functional bldg and it was a dump
A renovation will work

Just go look at what populus did with Georgia Tech arena. It was round and similar to the PMAC.

Why should taxpayers pay for this?
every other public university in the state gets state funding and we get zero (for athletics). maybe it's time the state pony's up some for LSU too.

Nothing more important than a basketball arena. This state is so fricked.
The Lafayette area is getting $21 million for their sheriffs & jails. That’s more than nearly all the universities in the state including LSU who is getting $3 million for a new library. Spare me the faux outrage.

$110m to renovate the pmac? Auburn built a new arena for $89m

I’m not arguing over if a renovation could be nice. Just stated that mulkey wanted a complete rebuild and the pricing vs 2016 and 2023 is not the same.

Kim mulkey got Louisiana in step. Would rather have her calling the shots for state government than those other arse clowns.

Kim will get it done and I would bet she find matching funds to boost the project.

Is the state funding this? If it’s through TAF I wouldn’t expect the state to have any say so in it.

One a few areas in LA where tax payer can invest 100 mil. Ticket sales will exceed that value.

I believe if the state owns the building then they have to approve anything done to it.
