Charlie Strong will be the next LSU head coach.

LSU will hire someone worse. There is no coach left that has one a national championship that will be available. Some fans here are just longing to go back to the Curly Hallman, Mike Archer, Gerry DiNardo days. For those of us who really lived through it, we know better. The others are just being unreasonable. I'd prefer to be in the hunt than excuse LSU out of it for good and it can happen. Recruiting is a significant part of the battle and there are no guarantees there with any other coach. Our guys are young and still learning. We have a young QB learning the offense and a defense still learning Chavis' scheme.

Can you imagine what Leach at Texas Tech could do with the weapons he could recruit at LSU...

OMG! I'd love to see that.
No you really wouldn't. Would just disappoint you more and more.

Care to elaborate on how he would disappoint more and more?

Considering Auburn plays second fiddle to Alabama and also has to recruit against Georgia, yes.
I thought we already discussed this. Auburn was NOT second fiddle to Alabama during the majority of those years. Beating them 6 years in a row is second fiddle?

OK, maybe Miles isn't Bear Bryant. But, he's pretty good. Maybe he can't beat the "elite" teams on a regular basis, but nobody else in the SEC can either. And he usually doesn't lose to teams that he should beat. Be careful what you wish for. If Miles left, we could end up with a stellar coach.
But we might also end up with a guy that goes 7-5 every year.

Alabama's rich football tradition says otherwise.

First one worries me somewhat (see Tulsa / UTEP)...
Second one, hot commodity.

This is an excellent point. All I want is to be in the hunt for a national championship. Since Miles has been here, we have been in that position one time, one week after 12 teams lost and allowed us to back into the NC game. Thankfully we capitalized on the lucky opportunity presented to us. Aside from the back in in 07 we haven't been in the hunt by any means.

Time would be more well spent speculating about a new offensive coordinator that could develop QBs

you clearly don't understand what it takes for a coach to implement his own system and values.
Michigan players were whining cause RR worked them too hard. Yeah, im sure the team morale and work ethic were in a good place when Llyod Carr left
You know who else said this? Lou tepper....it didnt take long for Paul Johnson to implement his schemes I could say the same for saban etc. A good coach can adapt his scheme to fit his players or coach their players into running their scheme, not run off his stars like he did with mallett. Urban learned to do this with Chris Leak, Chavis is doing this with our linebackers who have been the weak link since bradie james.

If Miles goes to Michigan, LSU should hire Ears!
