Yeah, we got a couple of inches on the off the corners pretty consistently all night. But then late Guidry got squeezed a bit on at least one batter.

He royally screwed Guidry over on 2 batters to load the bases. It was both ways.

He called two Guidry fastballs, to one batter, strikes when they were definitely below the zone. Guidry came back with a slider for strike three and that batter was rightfully pissed at the ump.

UNC was bitching at every pitch they didn’t swing at. Take the bat off your shoulder and hit the zone being called

Sounds like this board everytime things aren’t going LSU’s way

Consistently.
That’s all you want.
Consistent until he wasn't. Final inning he tightened it up bigtime.

I thought the umps were pretty consistent all day. The zone was low and a lot of balls slightly below the knees were called strikes but it went both ways (except for Guidry in the 9th - that was a strike above the knees)

Even the announcers said this

Sure umps miss pitches but I believe misses are caused more by their position and the catchers position. Most of the time the catcher makes sudden moves to block their site. On close breaking stuff they sometimes have to guess. If they stand inside and the pitch is outside and the catchers body blocks site it’s tough as hell, especially with breaking or off speed stuff. Every ump positions differently and their site is different from the previous ump. A savvy pitcher sometimes can figure out the umps tendencies on certain pitches.

That’s why they need to shitcan umps for ball calling and go tracking tech.

As a mostly SEC umpire, we did I think in my opinion get the better half of some 50/50 calls behind the dish.

Agree.

But if you are an SEC umpire coming to a fan message board using the word “we”, shame on you.

moneyg , I’m sorry if I came across as an official. I was referring to Jeffrey as a mostly SEC Official.

He was really big, mostly to LSU’s advantage, until late in the game. I really like a bigger zone. Generally makes them swing the bat and provides for a more entertaining game. I don’t know if the crowd got to him or what, but the zone got much tighter from around the 7th on.
