Consistently during the carries he got. Ware as a pretty impressive highlight real when you consider he only carried the ball a few times. My point is Ware looked the best when he played last year... that is an opinion. More importantly Ware has obviously done the same in practice or he wouldn't have got those chances last year and he obviously impresses in practice or he wouldn't still be #1.

Why didn't he play more prior to the bowl game?

Possible the coaches may be bad at evaluating talent since he went from nowhere to the man in the span of one bowl game? just food for thought.

ETA: I hope he is a beast. I really don't care who carries the ball as long as they are effective.

I am huge fan of MF. I have been wanting to see him kick arse ever since LSU was recruiting him. Why didn't we see more of him earlier? I don't have a clue but the coaches not being able to recognize talent is the last option on the list imho. They (especially in recent years) have pulled so many lower rated star guys into the program that turn into diamonds in the rough that I don't question their eye for talent. Playbook, dedication, blocking, attitude, grades... who knows what all factors into where any of the RB's are listed.

It is just food for thought. So many are so quick to say Ware is the man and is going to be the man etc. I hope he pleases all the fans who have jumped on his wagon based on him carrying the ball less than 25x last year. IMO he still has to prove he can do it for more than one game.

Sophomore Michael Ford (5-10, 202), who was LSU's No. 2 rushing tailback last season with 244 yards and three touchdowns on 45 carries, is apparently out of the mix presently.

Funny how Miles has no problem with leaving out Ford and calling him out in some ways to the media, yet can't say a negative thing about Jefferson.

I don't believe MF is out of the mix until I hear it from a credible source.

All Les did was mention some RB's. All this bullshite speculation over a simple quote is pointless. If anyone mentions a list that includes a number of people there is a very good chance one will be left out. It is retarded to take the fact that he didn't utter the words Michael Ford in one statement to mean that Ford is last on the RB list.

I think it is more a case of Miles favoring the better back over the inferior back. Blue was no slouch last year. He rushed for 5yds/carry and Ford had 5.4yds/carry. Both of those numbers are great. In Ford's case, his numbers do not go far enough to separate himself from the pack when he has had academic and playbook issues, ala being 5th on the depth chart. Ford is still a great RB, but we just have a stable of them this year.

I guess that Florida game did not help make his case. But, this is not the first time I've heard the pass protection was hurting him. We'll see...

I really hope he plays because if not he will most likely transfer. Other than ware ford ran with more power than any other back and I don't see Magee being a power runner

Magee isn't a speedster. He is a mid 4.5 guy.

He IS extremely powerful. Think magical balance. That's the quality that stands out most....

I was wrong. I reread the article and apparently the order is real as of when it was stated. I suspect it is grades more than play ability.

I am not fan of Blue. He is a tiger and I don't hate him or anything I just felt like it was a wasted scholarship. I believe Ware and Ford are better than Blue. With Ford having issues keeping him low on the chart this is concerning to me.

But I am encouraged that a true freshman who I have never seen play has moved up ahead of Blue. That isn't so much me trying to knock Blue but saying for a true freshman to take a spot ahead of a RB that got a number of minutes last year must (hopefully) be kinda special.

As others have said, I think the article was Guilbeau's perspective and not Miles.

I think Ford will get his carries, but a good chance Magee gets more and more carries as he progesses in his career. I don't think Ford will ever be a starter or an every down back. Yes, he's strong but all his weight room strength doesn't translate into power on the field. He's still not a big guy and he doesn't have great hips that allow for a fluid change of direction like Magee and Ware. He'll get his carries in spots and will likely be certain plays like the quick option to get him to the edge because he's not a between the tackles runner.

For those asking why some think so highly of Ware after one game....Ware is a better all around back and he's a downhill runner with good hips. A lot like Jacob Hester and Ridley. He didn't get more opportunities last yr because he and Ridley were similar backs and Ware was a true frosh. If we were talking about a QB it would be different but Ware isn't going to all the sudden lose the ability he showed in the Cotton Bowl.

Plus Ford scares me to death holding the football with bare arms. I always think the football is going to slip right out of his hands.

Ford also missed the last stages of spring football and the spring game to focus on his academics.

Bingo. There is your answer. He doesn't have the grades.

"I think Michael Ford didn't finish runs as well as he was capable," Miles said of last season.

Over against some I think Les is shooting straight here. It's not a matter of academics (have classes even started back? is he awaiting an elgibility ruling?). Michael Ford did not run with authority last year and Les is not going to put up with that. Les has an affinity for the Hester, Chuck the Truck, Ridley (and Ware) style of running.

I have nothing, zero against Michael Ford. His upside is way out there. But he needs to translate that into toting the rock with some attitude.

I realize the burden of proof could be on me just as easily as someone else but here's my challenge: show me one instance in Ford's 45 carries last year where he either ran over someone or broke a tackle (and not the arm stuff).

Ford not being in the mix at RB is beyond bizarre.

Either Miles or Guilbeau is full of shite.

Sadly, I'm not sure which one because both have been full of shite at times.

Isn't it obvious? Or am I crazy? I think I'm on to something....

Miles hopes this makes UO waste time scouting Magee film that doesn't exist when in fact he plans on trotting ware and ford out there to punch Oregon in the mouth. I wouldn't be suprised to see 9 straight runs to start this game.
