I thought we would have fixed that problem by now. it was the same thing last year. This is ridiculous and bush league.

I think this was more about being the opening weekend

Only if you think winning tonight is important? Apparently, not important to CPM.

Ya ever think that he does it on purpose to see if the kid can get it figured out?
CPM is not necessarily worried about W & L's so much this time of year, much to the chagrin of the fans.

Pull the pitcher and have him throw in the pen to practice. I'm pretty sure he is playing to win.

I’m hoping Paul left them out there to get reps and see how they handle it.

Hoping.

It sucks to lose games, but you aren’t pulling your starter before the game is ugly on the first weekend. You want to see what they can do.

More worried about who he’s starting than anything else. I know he went with experience, but starting pitching and patience at the plate are the 2 biggest issues right now.

. You people have ZERO knowledge what it takes a pitcher to go 9 at the end of May.

Hess and Gilbert HAD to go 70 pitches or so. Hess was a closer and is going to need to stretch out.

I hate to tell you but Hess can't go 9 innings. That's why scrimmages are played prior to real games. What makes you think a guy who came out the pen can go 9? We don't need 9 innings we need 4-5 innings and he couldn't get 2.

He was a SP until last year. He was put in the pen last year as more of a luxury than anything else.

I get it and we always pull it off at the end, but I'm always tired of seeing lesser teams ready to play on opening weekend, while we struggle with most everything. It's a hallmark of the program, but it would be nice for once, to come out guns blazing and not have to resort to, "It's baseball."

In the end it will work, but damn. We are never ready in time.

He can’t go 9 innings running it up to 97. He has to sit at 92 and learn to run it up when needed and get his command.
Command is everything, not velocity.

I'm astonished every year that people haven't figured this out yet.

I thought we made it to the finals of the World Series last year. Wouldn’t the coaches have to have managed the pitchers reasonably well to make it that far? Do bush league teams make the World Series?

No. The rant knows better. There is no process to be concerned with. Better to have knee jerk reactions after game 2 of the season.
