And Orgeron decided instead of having one position coach also coach special teams, he'd rather split the special teams duties up, since they are all fairly unique to each other, even though the personnel overlap some. This approach makes sense to me.

Your post is not really accurate. The ncaa was in the process of allowing teams an additional coaching position on staff. LSU filled all of its coaching vacancies with it in mind that they’d hire a dedicated ST coach after the new position was available. The hope was that we’d be able to get a ST coach on staff prior to the season, but the rule wasn’t confirmed by the start of the season. Hence, ST duties were split up amongst the guys on staff this year.

That said, teams almost always rely on consultants to coach kicking—I don’t think that an OL or LB coach could help a guy improve their FG accuracy.

Thinks have turned out fine, but there will be a dedicated ST coach on staff prior to next season.

No worries. Jeff Grimes has taken up the slack admirably. His Rub and Sauce will be missed in 2018, but that's about it.........

Not true. As soon as Ed was promoted to interim he fired BDP. They didn't get along very well and Ed recognized the ineptness of our ST. I believe he was fired the day after Ed get the interim tag.

I worry about recruiting here in Houston. BDP killed it here.

I'm sorry is LSU only allowed to recruit in Louisiana? Why not go and pluck some 4 and 5 stars from other states like Bama does to us regularly?

I realize we do get top players from other states but my point is if Louisiana is in a down year it doesn't automatically mean LSU has to have an average class.

Well yeah. When Oregeron said he was going to build a wall around Louisiana, he forgot to leave himself a way out. So now we can only recruit within the Louisiana borders.

Seriously, do you think we don't recruit out of the state? And do you not how a down year inside our state would hinder recruiting a little bit?

We have a special teams coach his name is Greg Mcmahon. Apparently he is at the football ops everyday for 12 hours. He just doesn't coach on game day.

The only coach Eaux fired during the season was Cameron. BDP was fired the day after the regular season ended on November 25, 2016.

Have we improved though? I haven't checked the numbers, but when he was first brought back st improved in every category that first year. Even white was averaging more yards per punt return than obj did.

And let's not forget some of the linebackers he recruited and helped coach are starting in the NFL.

And BDP had a better record as a head coach than Ed Orgeron did before becoming LSUs full time head coach. Let that shite sink in.

The state was down for the first 5 years of Les. The 07 team had 51% of the players from oos. These things were not excuses for the last coach.

What? The fact that you hate the LSU head coach? We know. You hope LSU loses every game that has Eaux as the coach.

Who is making excuses? Its a fact that recruiting in LA this year is down compared to normal. Doesnt it make sense that recruiting would be a little down this year?

And why are you acting like this class looks like the Ole Miss class from last year?

Is the class already signed? Damn, I missed it !!!

Check out the last two quotes at the bottom of the above linked post. Not only is Surtain Jr a 5-star and the top ranked CB in the nation, but Tyson Campbell is also a 5-star and the 3rd ranked CB in the nation. The other player mentioned is a 4-star and the 16th ranked WDE in the nation.

https://247sports.com/Season/2018-Football/CompositeRecruitRankings?InstitutionGroup=HighSchool&Position=CB

LSU also has a shot at the guy in between Surtain and Campbell. He was expected to commit to OSU or Texas but LSU had his last visit and then he pushed back his announcement from last Monday.
5-star CB Anthony Cook pushes back commitment date

Where LSU stands with 5-star Anthony Cook heading into his decision

But, go ahead and be all Doom-N-Gloom. With all the good stuff happening with the LSU football program, I applaud your resolve to be miserable.

DB's are great and all but we've never really had issues with that position. Corey Raymond + LSU will put us in top position for all the great DB recruits. We seem to be hurting at the OL and RB positions right now, if we don't fill these we could have offensive issues for quite some time.
