Looking ahead: Advice on away games in College Station
Posted by tlsu15 on 7/25/16 at 1:33 pm83
I'm starting to plan a trip to College Station for Thanksgiving this year.
For people who have made the trip, where is the best place to stay, eat, tailgate, etc.? I know College Station is on the smaller side to say the least. What is the game day atmosphere like there (besides very gay, obviously)?

I usually go to one away game a year with my dad and I'm not able to get to Lambeau this year (he's going). I'm in Dallas so A&M seems like our best bet for our trip this year and he texted me this morning to confirm it was on.

Go take shots at The Dry Bean Saloon next to the Dixie Chicken. Get the one with pickle juice and tabasco. You will thank me later.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of LSU football on Thanksgiving day either. College football should be played on Saturday. I enjoy being able to relax and absolutely stuff myself while watching the Cowboys (I'm aware, not a popular opinion on here) on TV on Thanksgiving, then getting ramped back up on Saturday for LSU.

That's the most college station thing I've ever heard. I had to google it to make sure you weren't just making that up

We stayed at the LaQuinta and walked to and from the stadium.

Worked down there for a while. Northgate is awesome. There's pretty decent food there as well. We ate Fuegos alot. They have some awesome tacos.
Went in 2012. It was terrible. I hear the new stadium renovation is nice, but when I was there, it was a dump. Bathrooms backed up, and the whole place smelled like bat shite.
The only good part of the experience was walking down the ramps and hearing "Geaux Tigers" echo all the way up and down. Made for some salty arse Aggies.

I have not been there since the renovation. I hear it's nice now at the stadium, and not a hell hole of rat poop and sewerage.
I would say just stay in West Houston and drive up and back for the game, but I think you said you are in Dallas so that won't make much sense.
Absolutely walk on the grass and be sure to make fun of their silly dog and their silly traditions.
