If memory serves me I think he actually broke a tackle or 2 in the endzone, before he brought it out.

I said the exact same thing, I was in the SW corner where it happened.
I thought they officially gave him 101 or 102 yds?

Yep. The game was not televised, but I was able to record it on Inside LSU Football.
I'm pretty sure that game was on Tigervision, I recall watching that play. I could be wrong and maybe I was listening to it on the radio, but boy do I remember that.

As I recall, he caught it at about the 2 and his momentum carried him into the end zone and juked a couple of defenders who grabbed a small part of his jersey, but couldn't hang on. As soon as he was in full stride, that was it.

I recalled this from reading the advocate ad with the "did you know?" that used to run all the time (NCAA not LSU record, IIRC).

My Dad and I were at the game. My recollection is that he fielded the ball at the goal line and immediately got hit and driven about 4 yards back. Almost everyone stopped except Kennison. He cut left and took it up sideline untouched.
My Dad and I used many expletives on that play...

Not possible. College football does not recognize any play for more than 100 yards, as yards deep in the end zone are ignored.
