Long-Term Outlook: Why reinstate Wade before investigation is concluded?

This has always been about Wade and LSU’s choice to trust in him despite the smoke. If he’s proven guilty, the AD will appear enabling at best... complicit at worst.

To be clear, I don’t think LSU is at fault for the OLOL situation (the guy is in jail) or for Beckham being Beckham. But LSU opened this door by putting the chips in on Wade.

Has the school done anything at all to distance or protect itself? I realize we’re not alone in this predicament and that other schools haven’t gone this route... but organizationally, individual compliance falls back on the school... and then back on the NCAA.

I’ve never liked the optics, and I’m not feeling great about the situation at the moment.

Why suspend him until the investigation is finished?

I’m not worried about the downvote ratio as much as I am the future of the program lol.

To cover our arse. The alternative is a dice roll. No telling how this turns out or how accountable the university will be held. The NCAA is going to try and cover its arse, I’d bet on that.

So they should have suspended him for 2 years? We still don’t even know when the investigation will be “complete.” So you think the program should have just been left in limbo that entire time?

At that point they would have been better off firing him. Except that they can’t show cause without completing the investigation.

I’m not sure what else you expect LSU to do.

So there is no ongoing investigation of Wade separate from the FBI CBB probe? Thought that’s exactly what the NCAA forwarded to the independent committee.

It's because Wade lawyered up and if Wade survives this he would have sued LSU for suspending him unnecessarily.
The lawyer did agree to amend his contract to protect LSU and if Level 1 is proven then Wade will likely be fired which is to protect LSU.

I’m not sure how you could have possibly taken that away from my post.

So the NCAA investigation is expected to take 2+ years?

His initial suspension was in March of 2019.

It’s already been 19 months.

might as well just do the ncaa's job for them and self impose the death penalty. how exactly do you think not having a head coach for 2 years would go for the program?

Have you ever seen a coach suspended by the school for almost 2 years?

Fair points. I was actually asking a question (not just rhetorically or to make a point). The guy mentioning his contract being renegotiated was most along the lines of what I was looking for.

Your question is similar to the analogy of executing someone before the jury hears the entire trial and renders a verdict. If he's guilty then LSU will handle the situation appropriately, in the interim, why not just support our coaches, players, and program ? Be an optimist instead of a pessimist.

Suspending him assumes he’s guilty or gives the appearance we believe he is guilty. He is innocent until proven otherwise
