I was optimistic after 1-9-12 because I knew that LSU was going to be MUCH better at the QB position and we only lost 5 players to the NFL draft. There is no way we will be better at QB and we will be losing about 15 players to the draft with 5 of them arguably worthy of being selected in the 1s round.

The folks that saw this knew the only real threat was Alabama. And they ended up not being much of a threat at all.

A healthy Bama was a threat...not as good as LSU but good enough to make the game close. Those last Bama TDs at the end were a little flukey but to be fair, Tua’s first possession unforced fumble was also kinda flukey.

I don't think Tua scores even if he doesn't drop the ball. And even though Waddle made an incredible punt return Racey should have made the tackle. Pt being, Bama got 3 TDs the easy way.

I don’t recall what down it was when he fumbled. At the least they get a FG.

But yeah, LSU was definitely the better team. I wish the score had been 46-0 but I’ll take any W against Bama. Hate those bastards.

While I'm not necessarily looking for a repeat, we should view last year not as a once in a lifetime season, but this is the new normal. With the athletes we have had for many years, we just needed the right system and trigger man. With the athletes and system we run, we won't have a problem getting a trigger man to come in to run a program that will actually prepare them for the NFL instead of most of these other "systems" that are highly productive in college, but don't translate well to the NFL

I believe the defense will be better.

3rd and goal from the 8. And I think Saban would have gone for it on 4th from about the 1 or 2 yd line.

All will hinge on Brennan

If he can go 3500, 30 TDs then LSU will be fine

A good, above average offense and an excellent attacking defense can win a championship. LSU will have both and of course they need to have very few injuries. LSU has a chance.

i'm positive MB will have great numbers in most of the counting stats, TDs, yards, etc. that part will be from the system.

the question will he make the 3rd and long, keep the chains moving throws that JB did. Will he convert the 1sts downs with his legs and get to the sticks or buy time for his receivers to get open when the pocket breaks down.

if so, we repeat.

We don’t have to be better. Just 80% as good.

Exactly! Can you imagine if MB puts up only 75% as good of numbers as JB did, how good that really is? It will be interesting to see if the new OL can protect MB as well as they did JB. I just wish they would have let MB play the whole playbook and pass some more when he was in last year. Yes, the team improved, especially the defense. But to achieve similar results as 2019, the defense next year will have to play better all year, and I think that is possible.

I think Pelini is a better defensive coordinator than Aranda was. His prior Tiger defenses were more dominating. Reason I think the Tigers will be in the mix.

Comes down to leadership. No one can question Joe’s abilities but what he did from a leadership standpoint was probably more valuable. The most talented teams in the world will fail in absence of good leaders, while less talented teams seem to gel and flourish with good leaders. This is MB’s team and if he steps up, they can accomplish anything. Should be fun to watch.
