Haven’t tried this in awhile, it used to be fine from what I remember but I assume there’s some kind of a delay?

Remember years ago they sold a simple headset that only played the radio call. Great idea but the shite was super glitchy.

Hmmm…and I always thought it was the live action that was a few seconds behind the radio.

Learn something new everyday I guess…

How in the hell is a radio broadcast gonna be ahead of the live action.

I always brought a simple FM radio headset with me to Tiger Stadium and listened to the game on Eagle-98.

In away stadiums, years ago they used to use a low-power FM transmitter to broadcast the game. You could pretty much only pick it up in the stadium. It was always on a locally unused frequency usually on the high-100's end of the FM scale. I do not know whether they do that anymore.

A streaming app is worthless because the broadcast is 45-60 seconds behind live action.

Yep, about 2-3 seconds on 98.1. Used to be spot on, but its been delayed last several years.

I was told that some schools' broadcast teams have a local antenna in the booth and they broadcast the real-time signal over that for listeners inside the stadium. The real-time signal goes out over a frequency that's wayyyy down at the end of the dial. (89.1 or something like that)

The Superdome had that for many years with WWL. Don't know if they still do.

In addition being ahead of the live action, you also get the offense and defense calls before the ball is snapped on the radio so you know what to watch for.

Our crew does this on the road for sure. At Ole Miss it was on 87.5 and at Mizzou is was on 87.7. I have never thought to check for it that low at the home games but will this weekend.

Anyone know if they still do the lower or upper dial call with no delay?

Ah nice, if we’re still doing this on the road I can’t imagine we don’t at home.
