Jefferson though is more talented than Lee and most any other QB in the country. He's taller, he's more mobile, and he's more poised.

Ya lost me right there.... all the good things I had thought and that you were reasonable just vanished....

So with that it is bed time, not even going to respond to the rest cause well I am really only doing nothing.

You're right, he isn't more talented than most QBs. There are just thousands of 18 year olds who are 6'4", have a strong arm, are athletic, and poised. What did I lose you on?

Yeah well I can think of about 7 incidences where JL should have took sacks.

Hebert is smart, athletic, and is aggressive, that's why everyone (not just the LSU faithful) liked him out of high school.

Kind of like Todd Mc.

I talked with his Dad, Bobby at the Bash, he said the T-Bob wanted to be there but the night before was at the AJC awards. His award, the most outstanding Offensive Lineman in the state of Ga.

i listed center pay first, because it is usually much more important
then field goal kicking.

1. FG kicking. Its was so nice having Colt the last 4 years and really never worrying about a FG under 40 yds (remember the Richey years when we were crossing our fingers for XPs). This is definitely the biggest ?? going into the season...

Yes he took more sacks last year, but he was thrown into the fire. Things like pocket presence were not quite there yet for him. This year, he will be more poised and know when to let the ball go. And like others said, Lee should have taken a lot more sacks than he did last year.

eta. Also, QBs call their own protections by what they see in the defense. Ole Miss and Arkansas took advantage of him in that regard giving him looks he wasn't ready for because I guarentee JJ wasn't changing protections at the Line of scrimmage in those games.

Neither QB will put up Rohan, Herb Tyler, Mauck, or JR type numbers what we can hope for is something similar to Bama last year. A QB that protects the ball and delivers when needed to and rely on a strong running game.

If our QB situation is similar to Bama's was last year we're screwed.

I rewatched the Chick Fil A Bowl the other day, and Jefferson's second half wasn't bad. There were a few drops, and he had about 3 deep balls that they seemed to be calling and throwing just for the heck of it.

With that said, I think the biggest weakness on offense could be the lack of a vertical passing game. Jefferson's different then most young quarterbacks in that his short to intermediate passing game(not including screens, those needed work) is really good where as his deep ball is pretty inconsistant. Hopefully his mechanics have been sharpened a bit and it was more of a timing issue than anything else, but I'm not sure. In the first half when he underthrew LaFell on the deep ball, I agreed with the announcer when he said Jefferson tries to throw his deep ball on a rope rather than loft it.

I think I QB situation will be ok mainly b/c I believe JJ will improve and he does he doesn't have a propensity to turn the ball over (He'll take the sack instead of throwing into coverage)

My biggest concern is the D. They were dreadful last year. Gave up huge point. No I am accounting for the record pick 6's. They must play much better than '08.

I just don't see it.

If we still have a problem in the secondary, then it's because we still have a problem with our defensive coaching. We are extremely talented there.

LB is our biggest weakness, IMO.

It's a pretty reasonable position to think that Jefferson will be a much more polished player with a better handle on the offense.

Using last year's stats to define Jefferson is pretty foolish, IMO.

I love a thread that's meant to call out who we think will suck the most next season by position or name. Just seems kinda dick.

So using last year's stats to define JL would be foolish too huh?

The hate for one player over another is astonishing.

As much as I'm sure you truly believe that on the field coaching would have helped JL, a lack of coaching was not the problem with JL. Some people have it a JL just doesn't have it.

Woot way to bash a player... guess he should have given up and walked off field vs Auburn, Troy, South Carolina huh? JL just doesn't have it even though he threw for 1800 yards and 13 touchdowns playing against 4 defenses ranked in top 25.

What you people ( and I'm not going to call you names) don't take into account when comparing JJ with JL in games against Ole Miss and Arky is the experience that JL had(almost a whole season, either as a starter or a person that had sifnificant playing time. During most of the season JJ did not get hardly any reps. and it's though to get your rhythm without reps. If you want to be fair( and I doubt that you do) compare stats after JJ has started 8 games.
