Correct the accused.
Who should have rights to appeal the decisions but from what it sounded like it was 3 or 4 different levels to appeal to before the case would be closed.

I guess our gross incompetence across the board saved him. [Verge Ausberry]

Schools are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
They either didn't do enough or if you falsely accuse someone like what happened at Duke with lacrosse than you expose the university as well.

So why not tell these girls to go to the police? Then, once there is a verdict, LSU can make a decision

I believe they did go to LSU Police
Was the ball dropped there?
Was their not enough evidence for them to proceed?

Ok, that’s great but in cases where there was sexual assault, what do you do as a victim for the years a case like that can drag on while your rapist sits a row behind you in Econ?
There needs to be some school intervention. even if it is a process to keep them away from each other.

I don’t know why this is a school problem, and not a police problem. How can LSU have hearings if they cannot legally decide if a person is guilty of a crime.

Because due process takes time to get a conviction...
LSU has a responsibility to it students to protect them. IF there is evidence of abuse the abuser needs to be removed from campus immediately not six months later.

Policy dictated LSUPD should report it to the Title IX office. Those actions were not always taken

Right
The problem is

evidence of abuse
It doesn't seem very clear what the threshold is for evidence in order for action to be taken. I'll admit that I'm not super well versed in Title IX, but it seems that punitive actions taken from Title IX can be vastly different depending on the university, which doesn't seem right.

Campus police will be banned from postseason participation.

I can hardly understand what any of the reporters are asking. Especially the chick that is double masked.

Why are schools being expected to handle these things instead of the actual police?
they aren’t.
it’s a completely separate and independent investigation that is required.
and there are things that would be Title IX infractions that can get you suspended or even kicked out of school that are not against state law.

So basically athletes didn't receive special treatment, because all cases were handled inappropriately?
That's an interesting approach.
that’s basically the same approach UNC used in their academic scandal.
No NCAA penalties came from that scandal because of it.

Good. So a big nothing burger. Everyone can carry on.

I hope all these kids that are accused moving forward realize that they will be automatically guilty and be perp-walked off campus. There will be no due process. You better never be alone with a girl. This has nothing to do with the validity of the claim.
