I have a feeling that Milam is going to be a staple in this lineup.

Don’t sleep on the true freshman they call “Monster” to be the starter at 2nd base

It’s going to be tough to keep Milam and Brown out of the lineup. But if they’re both in, who do you sit? Pearson today, but he’ll be in most days. Good problem to have.

Going to be a lot of mixing and matching with the lineups this season, especially in the first half of the year. The only locked in spots at White at 3B and Travinski somewhere in the batting lineup.

Bingham will be in as long as he doesn’t hit a slump. Braswell is going to be at shirt unless he completely fails at the plate. Kling will get every opportunity to win the CF job.

But every other spot is wide open. And we will see a lot lineup shuffles.

good bit of rotation at C as well

For the uninitiated, is pitching pretty stout this year? I saw the 1st game but took it with the understanding that VMI is a good hitting team like they were last year. Didn't get a chance to watch game 2 because of an internet outage that made the news here in Little Rock but I saw it was a shutout against UCA, which is about 20 minutes down the road.

Watched a good bit of LSU last year but I don't remember Coleman playing a ton, I believe he was coming back from an injury?

Anyways, what do we have left in the bullpen for today?

Coleman was coming off Tommy John last year and came back in the middle of the season. Was worked back in slowly and was a little inconsistent. But from what I’ve heard, he’s looked good in the spring scrimmages this preseason.

Braswell isn't going anywhere either. His defense is too good, he's fast, & we don't have anyone else. He could hit .150 & he would still start every game in the 9 hole.

Three days and three drastically different lineups. I’m all for it. Interested to see White/Travinski in the 2/3 hole. Not the first time we have seen Jay do this with his best hitters.

I’ll never forget Coleman dealing against Oregon in the regionals. The Oregon coach said it was MLB stuff the way he commanded every pitch. Hopefully we get that guy this year

He’s looked solid defensively. Day one in pre games and he botched a routine play and it made me antsy, nice to see that was a fluke.

I wonder if he tweaked something late in the game yesterday on that half sliding catch he made. He looked slightly uncomfortable coming up after that catch.

He had a good day yesterday,…..but let’s see how he does with being lead off. Brasswell and Bingham both kind of flunked. They didn’t do terrible but I don’t think either got a hit in that spot. Milam might be a good fit there because of his stature. Small strike zone. If he does well…..it will be very interesting. ??

Milam is a pretty ideal lead off man. He doesn't strike out and his strike zone is so small a pitcher really has to have great command or he will earn a walk.

Working the pitcher and OBP is what I want out of my leadoff guy. He also has pretty good (not elite) speed.

Im sorry, but i have a hard time anointing any freshmen until a few weeks into sec play. I cant say for sure right now that milam doesnt strikeout because of one game. But im hopeful

My post is just a recognition of why I can understand why he’s getting the lead off spot today. Obviously Jay wants to see more.

He didn’t strike out the entire spring in around 30 plate appearances. I’d say our staff is pretty good. Won’t surprise me if he has one of the lower K % on this team even as a freshman, but yes…he will eventually strike out.
