Lifetime memories were made

I'm an LSU alum ('95), TGBFTL member my freshman year ('90), had season tix '98-'99 & 2002-07, and attended the 2003 BCS CG (Jan 2004); so I consider myself very familiar with the LSU game day experience. But I'm also still blessed to have had the time available and resources to make it on campus yesterday for a truly unique experience. I had my 8-year-old son, and a buddy from South Carolina and his 11-year-old son with us.
No doubt it was a strange day. Arriving a little before 11am, with no traffic to speak of, and wide open options for parking. Campus felt like a ghost town or maybe more like a Sunday afternoon "family in the park" crowd.
Pre-game:
-Hit the free tailgate on the Parade Grounds (jambalaya & white beans, etc.)
-had pictures taken by a reporter and my SC friend was interviewed for The State (SC) newspaper
-met and took pics with LSU President, F. King Alexander, who wanted to make sure my SC friend and I were enjoying ourselves; we actually met him again 2 other times inside/outside stadium
-kids got offered some free cotton candy across street from the Memorial Tower
-walked through The Quad and around the Indian Mounds (still a travesty this tradition was taken away from our kids)
-easily got a front row prime location at the top of Victory Hill along the barricades
-ESPN media guy took pictures of my son and his Fournette sign (saying he might use it for an upcoming LF article)
-high-fived Leonard Fournette and gave him a chuckle reading my son's sign
-mingled with the cheerleaders
-watched The Golden Band from Tiger Land march down the hill and then proudly joined the procession behind them to the bottom of the hill... Then four sweet notes of Pregame (Da-da-dahhh-Dah!)
-crossed over to watch Mike the Tiger prowling along the edge of his habitat
...and still made it in our seats one hour before kickoff for an entertaining LSU victory! What a fun and unique experience I was able to share with my son and friends. Memories were made that we will be able to recall for a lifetime.
THANK YOU LSU... GEAUX TIGERS!!!

For a second there I thought that might have been my hand in that pic! It was not - no wedding ring. I was in that line that high 5'd LF right at that spot yesterday too.

Cool story, bro, and I mean it.

This is my favorite board post of the month for sure. I take Pimp Jr to all the games like my Dad took me. That's why we go to the games. Family. Community. It's so much more than a ball game. The picture of Leonard makes you understand how much he gets that too...

Thank you for sharing.
Glad those memories happened for you and your son.
Way to go, for giving them a chance, and big congrats.

There should be more of this on the board and less bitching at each other. I swear we are meaner
To each other than we are to Bama fans. We are all brothers connected by our love of Lsu and the memories we have experienced and hope to experience again. In golf we say "and if your golf your my friend." I don't understand why it's not the same way on here?

That million dollar smile... 100% class. Every accolade he gets is well deserved. Leonard Fournette wins in football, but better yet, he wins in LIFE.

Amen brother... now let's be that change that we want to see here.

This was great to read and see. Good for you and your son. Don't take this time with him for granted - he will be gone before you know what is happening. I know - both of my boys are gone on with their lives and I am happy for them, but I miss them.

I see that LF has a police escort and a pistol at the ready to protect LF from any idiots out there. That is heads up thinking.

Very cool story man, and I'm glad you enjoyed your day. Sounds like great memories.

Great message and a great day for your and your son and friends!!
It may just be me but Leonard doesn't look like he is wearing any earphones or listening to anything (I don't see any wires... and I don't remember seeing that much if at all with other players).... but he is just enjoying the game day experience and traditions. And that smile.... says a whole bunch of good things about Mr. Fournette !!!
Thank you Leonard Fournette !!!!

This is EXACT what me and my wife try to tell people. Is is much bigger than football. Watching a game on tv just isn't the same. When you're 8 year old looks up to you after the band passes and says "daddy, this is the best day ever!", you know it's about family, community and spending time together.
