That is why I said "some"
I did not hear anything about Mack Brown, Steve Spurrier, Rich Rodriguez, Houston Nutt, .... as candidates either. Miles would be on a long list of coaches not mentioned this year.

This is called the rant for a reason.......people come here to vent. Would you like it if all we had were kumbaya threads, and we were celebrating that Curley Hallman, Smoke Laval, and John Brady were still coaching at LSU?

Given that Louisiana is supposed to have a stellar pool of recruits next year it would probably be a good idea to leave Les alone until after National Signing Day 2011. Firing him next season will not help recruiting.
I like your thinking but, do you think those big time recruits will stay for 7-5?

That kid is going to be perhaps the biggest scapegoat in the history of this state. Did he also cause Katrina, 9/11 and global warming?
What a strong program Miles built that could be destroyed for two years (and counting) by the loss of one player. I'm sure he would have been a big help on the defensive line these past two years if he had stayed, and not having him around to call time out in the Ole Miss game was a real killer.

TigerbandAumunus...
I'd say 9 wins probably stay, 7 wins gone. 8 wins probably gone depending on the bowl outcome, season ticket renewals (for this coming season), licensing revenue, recruiting, etc.
TigerFan55555: I think I'm noticing a trend. People with lots of numbers in their name tend to be those in the "vent" catagory.

So, what's the "Regular Season" breaking point and just cause for termination next year?
6-6,7-5,8-4. What about another duplicate 9-3 and second behind Bama in the West with either a Bowl win or loss?

I'd debate that...some on here are actually pretty sharp...And I'd love the chance to coach against his arse...

How many times was Miles mentioned this year as a candidate for a vacant head coaching position?
About as many times as Mack Brown, Tressel, Saban. You cant judge a coach on that criteria
ever hear of twisting facts to make them support your argument there Choctaw?
sure no one mentioned those guys for different reasons
Mack Brown-best job in nation, highest paid
Saban- great program, big money, expanding stadim
Tressel- big stadium, big money, mediocre conference that he can dominate
Miles- cause nobody wants the fricker!!!!

I was gonna add some of you guys can start contacting coaches - do some ground work. But then I thought some ranters might actually take that seriously and pick up the phone.
Actually, I have already been unofficially offered the job through a third party intermediary who isn't directly employed by LSU. I was in a bar complaining about Miles, and the guy said "If you know so much, why don't YOU coach the team?" I was able to read between the lines and figure out that he must have been asked by LSU to approach me and gauge my interest in the position.
My agent will be in touch with Alleva soon.

well, sometimes I vent when I see positigers just going nuts for a guy that is not worth the money we pay him...but I can be level headed and say that he should be given next year to try and turn it around...I however have no faith that he will...Not saying I want to see him fail...cause I want our team to do well and compete for NC's every year, but the so called "negatigers" are realist and we do live in a real world....I believe LM to be a good man, but should not be leading our beloved tigers...

If Miles does go after next year it is imperitive that it's done quickly after the season and that a really top notch replacement is found to keep the recruits and maybe even improve the class (judging by USC and Tenn this year there seem to be a lot of coaches turning down jobs).
I agree, talking with other coaches should be done before his firing...My first choice would be to go after Gary Patterson and not take no for an answer... I want a defensive minded strong diciplinarian...WHO BLITZES!!! BRING PRESSURE!!!

How did i twist facts? I just named 3 of many coaches that werent sought after for other HC jobs?

I give him next year. This guy is just beating a dead horse. What he's said is not original.

Attorney A. Wayne Stewart should concentrate more on lawsuites than LSU football.

quote:I agree with you here, it is draining, but some just can't fain contentment and happiness when they see a train wreck coming and just witnessed perhaps the most boring, frustrating and unfulfilling football season since Curley in '92. I don't fault you for feeling positive, but Miles needs to feel the heat for a few months here so that he knows his job is not secure unless he can improve and show something on the field.
Being negative is too draining an honestly a waste of time.
Let's face it, until his team takes the field and he shows at least in the spring game that he has retooled the offense, he is going to be under the gun whether you like it or not.

nah 02 was that. without the bluegrass miracle that season was a disaster.
96 was a very blah 10 win season

The letter wasn't stupid at all, it was factual and to the point.
There were maybe 3 items that could be considered facts. The rest was hyperbole.
Facts:
-With 29 seconds remaining, the ball was whistled ready for play. The ball was snapped with nine seconds left. Les Miles did not know that the clock runs following an offensive penalty.
-Penn State ran 75 plays. LSU ran 49.
-A. Wayne Stewart lawyer Denham Springs(not really a fact, but I had to stretch it to get 3 factual things out of that letter)
Hyperbole:
-The tragedy of the “Meltdown in Mississippi” is that there was no meltdown. The world visualized lack of preparation and inability to adapt, tempered with incompetence.
The country learned (what everyone in the SEC already knew) that LSU coach Les Miles is way over his head. In all human endeavor, you get what you tolerate. We have tolerated the insanity that is Les Miles for too many years. Our program is in free fall.
-We have a duty to demand the termination of Les Miles. He has coached our very talented players into underachievers.
He has embarrassed LSU and our state. MIM was not poor clock management. It was ignorance at the rate of $4 million per year. And we are paying the bill. We demand better.
Offensively, there has never been a game plan, a scheme. Random would be a compliment to the play-calling. Defensively, “bend, don’t break” keeps the score low, but it does not get you off the field.
- The failures are systemic, and they start at the top.
The secret of MIM is twofold. First, it is not a secret. The national media aptly dubbed the Penn State game as “The Dummy vs. the Mummy.” Second, it did not start at Ole Miss. It started the day Les Miles was hired. We get what we tolerate. Les Miles must be terminated.
It is time for the humiliation to end. The athletic director asked for his job. He should do his job.

No shite huh? Who said he shouldn't? I just classified it the way it should be classified: as complete BS.

Probably better to compare Miles to John Cooper than any other coach I can think of, except Cooper was wildly successful. His last two years, paired with the lack of success vs Michigan got him shown the door.
Winning a NC, having 10 win seasons don't mean a lot if you can't beat your conference rivals. LSU will know in a year whether we have another Cooper on our hands.
