There is only one reason. as a forewarning that the coaches will be getting raises and TAF fees will be going up again. If you are sponging off oil companies/corporate success, you probably don't care, but they are really hurting folks who pay for their own TAF and tickets.

Not a season ticket holder. Can someone give me a synopsis of this email. I get there are going to be more fees but would like to hear how he says it and the reasoning.

TIA

Did he add in how much money the department LOST by choosing to play 1 less home game in favor of one in Arlington or how much the department will lose in revenue in concessions by choosing to pay a teams like N Texas, Idaho and freaking Towson in front of empty stadiums?

Oh but wait I bet they will offer a package deal to non holders for face value to attend all those games plus Ole Miss next year.

Well if joe can use Forbes to his advantage I say no more season openers in places like Dallas. All that money in the local ecomomy was lost. While LSU Athletics made their money the city and state didn't see a dime. If the game is a great match up let the cameras roll from Tiger Stadium and not line the pockets of Jerry Jones and Texas.

Its budget cuts to the university thats really hurting LSU athletics. Athletics is being forced to take on more and more. Several yrs ago they upped the auxilary fee from 3% gross budget to 5% gross budget.

LSU cant up the auxillary fee anymore so over the past 2 years the Athletic dept has taken on more and more expenses.

Now with LSU in National Championship game Les Miles will be getting a sizeable raise.

This will also be the last year for bayou country superfest which the athletic dept makes millions.

Add everything together your looking at ticket price increases and expanded parking fees.

Its just a pre-Les Miles raise letter.

Les will be getting a 1 million dollar raise Jan 9th, and you will hear a wave of pissed off people saying he gets paid too much, professors are under paid, yada yada...its a prelude to his raise.

Most people don't understand that athletics are self supporting and actually contribute to academics.

Why is this? I always thought this was a successful venture.

1) I knew the athletic department was financially self sustaining and that 99.999% comes from football....that being said, I am truly taken back by the amount of money they are putting back into the school. Budget cuts started and got a lot of publicity during my tenure at LSU and some info was released that the athletic program was kicking in to help.

2) I did not know Bayou Country Superfest was done after next year....what happened??

3) I am not a fan of Alleva.

If they are already getting ready to bump fees to TAF from every season ticket holder, I wonder what the letter says to their corporate sponsors like Shaw, Turner, Lamar etc.

4) I love my University and am very proud to tell people that I went to LSU. I no longer live near LA and am just starting out so I am not able to contribute to TAF but my family does. I will proudly contribute when I am able to and I look forward to that day.

Exactly, most of the whining is coming from faculty. Because of budget cuts faculty and staff have not been given raises and as a result many are leaving for greener pastures. LSU has lost hundreds of faculty in the past 2 years and have been unable to replace them.

It is laying the ground work for Les's big raise and to calm some of the complaining from faculty.

The only thing it was successful at was lining the pockets of out of state concert promoters with state tax dollars. I'm glad they put a stop to that little kickback scheme.

It was very heavily subsidized with millions in state tax dollars, which were supposed to be temporary to attract the concert. Then the promoters tried to make it pseudo-permanent and bailed when the free money dried up.

This. And it sucks. Let LSU go 6 and 6 a few years iun a row and see if they raise prices.

Do like ULL did and sell beer in Tiger Stadium. $$$ shortfall problem now solved.

This really chaps my buns! He is praising the backbone of fans who truly do support LSU, the "little guy" who works, saves his money, goes out on Saturday no matter the weather or whom we are playing, and gets frozen out of the championship game ticket distribution due to lack of "points". We should all show him where they would be without us. LSU should be ashamed to not have done more to allow us little folks to get a shot at tickets. Who has money to buy from a broker?? Shame!

Maybe demand will soften if and when they enclose the upper deck on the south side.
