For a 7pm night we typically get around 9-10 kegs and spend around $2,000. For a day game we are looking at 4-5 kegs and spend around $700.
If LSU charged you guys $0.50 to use the pisser sounds like ALL the $$ problems would be solved!

Thats just one tailgate though and there are thousands more like it on campus for a night game.
Although I think with expanded parking fees for next season, tailgating will be getting smaller and smaller around campus.

I don't like Joe Alleva. But to be fair, he is tasked with dealing with the ENORMOUS debt of the LSU Athletic Dept while simultaneously maintaining/upgrading facilities.

Have to respectfully disagree.
At least LSU has not gone All Corporate and has side by side Tents for Rent (although I saw where they are now offered at LSU), paid tailgating spots and a total cluser --- like Bama has...
But even with that... they still get a shite ton of people on campus to tailgate.... and so will LSU.
Times change, people adapt... life goes on and so will the party for tailgating at LSU.
In my time since I was a student, what's changed:
1. Students got in free with ID - then tickets and now tickets based on points
2. Student seating was first come, first served... Greeks sent pledges in HOURS before games to hold sections... many fights took place between Greek pledges and "GDI's" that "took" their spots
3. Assholes drove all over the tree roots and sidewalks .... killing the oaks and compacting the soil, which would ultimately harm or kill them
4. WAY back when... well before my time -- my aunt and uncle used to pull a camper to BR -- park on campus across from the Chemistry building... for FREE. Later ONLY RVs were allowed in PAID lots far outside of central campus
5. Parking on campus in building lots was open, available and relatively easy to get to on game days... not for years now and the evolution to paid on-campus parking only made sense.
I do disagree that expanded parking fees would restrict the number of people tailgating.... it may/will change how people do things... but it will not lead to some die off of tailgating at LSU.
Of course, that's my opinion.

Bumping this thread in light of recent events.

I made my 2011 Tradition Fund payment on January 28th. So if Alleva or Board of Supervisors is going to pull the trigger on a Tradition Fund increase, it'll have to be announced in the next week or two.
Rather than an increase in Tradition Fund, I would expect to see an increase in ticket prices with eight home games in 2012. Eight home games will generate more revenue than a typical year.
And with Bama at home in a huge prime-time revenge game, it would not surprise me to see a "premium game" increase that is over and above the other increases.
