Did he add in how much money the department LOST by choosing to play 1 less home game in favor of one in Arlington or how much the department will lose in revenue in concessions by choosing to pay a teams like N Texas, Idaho and freaking Towson in front of empty stadiums? Oh but wait I bet they will offer a package deal to non holders for face value to attend all those games plus Ole Miss next year.

What's your solution? You don't like playing a Top 5 program on national TV because it loses money and you dont like playing cupcakes because you lose at the concession... you think Top 5 programs are going to consistently come to Baton Rouge?

While LSU Athletics made their money the city and state didn't see a dime.

What also hurt the local economy was the lack of any marquee SEC night games this season.

I actually heard this helps the economy, people go out to eat dinner when there's home day games.

But they drive into town for the game and go home afterwards. Fewer people stay in BR hotels.

Is this state able to be cited. Just curious, cause I would tend to think more stay the night before.

When we say LSU Athletics is self-sustaining, it is truly a boat on its own bottom. Besides generating all of its own revenues, the Athletic Department pays five percent of its revenues to the University each year to compensate for campus services such as LSU Police, accounting services, purchasing, human resource management and so on. Last year Athletics paid $4.4 million to the University for these purposes.

This goes directly to the fact that legislators are cutting out budget yet still have access to the tickets. Why?

Oregon was scheduled to play us in TS. So how exactly does not playing them in Arlington not get us that game? Who in their right fricking mind would not have put that game in the spotlight no matter where the game was played? We DONT have to play teams like Towson thats a fact. There are many many mid majors you can sub in instead or at least keep the money in state. How many people from Idaho or wherever the hell Towson is show up and support our economy?

Alleva's success is tied to Miles. So everyone not liking Alleva for some arbitrary reason dealing with letters he sends out to fans need to come back to reality.

Sounds like you described most LSU fans to include myself.

I got 2 to the NC game because I figured out 10 years ago that if I could afford the tickets coming up with an extra $100 for TAF and earning those evil points wasn't going to break me.

We should all show him where they would be without us.

Where exactly is that? Waiting list for season tickets is getting like Green Bay's. Did you forget how we had to convince the Peach Bowl that we'd travel well or how our weight room/team locker room was a joke in the SEC?

quote:

LSU should be ashamed to not have done more to allow us little folks to get a shot at tickets.

Everybody had a shot some just chose to be stubborn and not participate and decry the TAF as evil fatcats.

They promise to make no cuts to the Athletic Department.

I will agree that this is somewhat of a sore subject. They are given access by the Sugar Bowl Committe to tickets and the Athletic Department. Seems redundant and unnecessary. If they want tickets from the AD then join the TAF.

A masters thesis was done several years ago detailing the economic impacts football games has on LSU and day vs night games. I believe the amount of money brought in from a night game is 3 times that of a day game.

Just from my tailgate alone I believe this to be true. For a 7pm night we typically get around 9-10 kegs and spend around $2,000. For a day game we are looking at 4-5 kegs and spend around $700.

For night games people still party afterwards and the bars do quite well. For a night game people are generally more inclined to get a hotel room too.

I'm not sure what the economic impact is for LSU though since the same amount of seats sold and concession stands and parking.

Im still pissed that they didnt put a small amount of tix into a lottery, I think thats really a shite move on their part. I had no expectations of getting tix to the game but each and every season ticket holder should have a chance, albeit an extreme longshot, of winning a lottery. Put 250 tix or so into a lottery and give everyone a chance frick job.

When TAF got more tickets from Sugar Bowl Committee, I heard that someone with 6 or 8 tickets wanted 2 more and got them. It's all about the money. It's unfortunate, but the truth.

When there are 60K requests for 17K tickets someone is going to lose out regardless. Lots of someones.
