The mindset of “everything is horrible, but let’s be optimistic for the sake of being optimistic” is one of the most annoying viewpoints on this board. People just quit keeping up with men’s basketball the product is so bad. Theres nothing to be positive or optimistic about until they improve their on court performances.

they will beat A&M Saturday night. If they don't, they will keep it close and cover.
Man I wish I could maintain the optimism you seem to always have despite what we've watched all year.

If we bring in 1 talented big, 1 talented wing, a talented ball handler and mix them with our core, we are a tournament team.
If we get 3/5 of a starting roster AND don’t lose anyone we MIGHT have a tournament team.
This is projecting out year 4.
Why are people taking up for him?

Ill try to be positive when there is something to be positive about.
Lets start with a better roster

You need a true pg in the 6’3” range who can shoot above 35% from 3 and you need 2 wings that can shoot at or above 38% from 3. If they were above 6’4” that’s another plus
Tennessees PG is 5'9. They have 2 total players with meaningful minutes that shoot 38% or above from 3 and their PG is only at 32%. One of those players only averages about 1.5 3PA/G
As a team they are 134th in the country in 3p fg%.
But they are consensus top 10 and a damn good basketball team.
There are all kind of different ways to win in CBB and you dont have to have a specific mold. You need a good coach who can take whatever pieces he can get together and utilize their strengths. We dont have that type of coach.

trap game for A&M
They coming off a huge win, and LSU a terrible game.
I'm not sure LSU will win, I don't know how many players we have healthy. But, whatever line is out, I definitely think they cover.

You need a PG that protects and distributes the ball, and is in control. We haven't had that.
Tenn has a GREAT defense. That's why they win.

They’re using stats after the fact because they don’t realize that the quality of your numbers mostly comes from how well you play and the shots you take and not on how talented you are. There have been a ton of college players who produce high efficiency shooting that don’t make it to the NBA and plenty of NBA players who weren’t efficient college shooters. This narrative is born of ignorance which the mcmen tend to be.

This is tiger rant, not some dumb school assignment. If the biggest problem with the team is the coach, don't try to paint that over with unrealistic positivity.

Yes, but LSU doesn't have a couple of 40% 3 point shooters returning. Our best is Vyctorius Miller at 32%. Now I think he will be better, and Givens and Robert Miller will improve, but we definitely need at least one other solid 3 point shooter, hopefully with some length to take the pressure off Vyctorius.
Even that will not make us some shoot it out offensive team. Our strength will have to be defense and inside scoring.

Hey frick face, you were asked to not be negative in the op’s post but your reading comprehension failed you. Now go frick yourself with a sandpaper dildo. If you want to bitch about the coach, start your own thread or join in one of the countless other threads. You may now get back to sniffing little boy’s bicycle seats.

There are literally several hundred threads bashing the coach. The op asked for positivity only IN HIS THREAD! Sorry you are such a narcissist that you think following a simple ask is beneath you. I’ll bet you are a huge douche irl.

However, we have a really good group of freshmen and Sophomores for next year.
All this assumes they stay....which doesn't seem to happen to LSU with todays NIL.
And then you have Coach back.
So something drastically has to change to improve and be positive for next year.

Ward wasn't recruited away. He just kinda noped out of the season right before it started. Rumored to be over competition with Bailey.

He will end up 14-41 at the end of this season, with losses to A&M and the 1st round of the SEC. Tournament, after 3 years how in Zues's butthole does a record like this says that he is a good coach, what makes you think that all of sudden in year 4 he turns into this great coach, let's not forget 2 of his bigger losses this year were to a bad Texas team by more than 30 at home and then got boat raced by Kentucky who has a new coach and almost an entire new roster, a middle of the pack Kentucky team with 10 losses, and they lost by 31 and it was only that close because an average Kentucky team put in there walk ons the last 5 minutes of the game! I just don't understand how people can still think he's not only a good coach but next year because of his brilliance through recruiting and the portal he will have Lsu overall 28-4 and 16-2 in the SEC. It's time to move on from Mcloser he has shown he can't do it,you can use every excuse you want players hurt, lack of NIL Money, blah, blah, blah. The bottom line is this excuses are like buttholes they all stink, and if they keep him and 75% of his roster leaves then they will use that excuse next year. Mcloser has had plenty of time to do something,he can't move on NOW! Nothing changes if Nothing changes!
Have an upvote for working butthole twice into a single paragraph.

Again please direct your attention to the basketball team and horrible coach, not a fellow poster.

It is so much more about Jimmy and Joe, than X and O, in college basketball.
This is true on every level of basketball.

Coaches get too much of the blame for bad teams and too much credit for good teams.
Relatively speaking, college coaches should get the most blame/credit. Personnel is 100% up to them as opposed to front office input in the NBA. Team talent is far lower (than nba) can’t rely on many players to “get their shot” consistently. More sets need to be executed to score. There are no James Hardens or SGA’s that can go get 50 on their own. Development is more important. Can’t make trades mid season to improve the roster. Incoming players (freshman vs rookies) aren’t as skilled. Etc..

Guard play is where it is at in college
I’m not so sure about this. UConn & Purdue featured centers last year. Neither POY candidate this year (Broome, Flagg) is a guard. Dominating the post is what I’d focus on. College ball is much more like HS ball than it is to NBA ball. Size wins. Rebounding wins bc there will be more misses. Shots closer to the rim beat 3’s bc most players don’t shoot well.
