Tampa has a mid-season need at edge, could he be called back to the NFL?

Obviously he wouldn't be obligated to go, but seems like another possible head-ache for these players down the road.

I believe NFL has a rule preventing this. He would have to wait until after the season to be a free agent.

The NFL released a statement a week or so ago saying anyone cut from a team that goes back to play in college will be a free agent but will not be allowed to sign until this season is over.

Got it, nice to see a sports league being proactive and reasonable

For those who would like to read about what was said.

NFL executive Troy Vincent reiterated the longstanding policy at the league's meetings Wednesday, saying players who go back to college will be ineligible to play in 2026. Vincent said any player who does that would instead become a free agent for the 2027 season.

Jack would be naive to go back to college. he will get picked up this year at some point and that will start his clock in the NFL.

I think the more interesting question is does he see snaps on Saturday. Injunction passes on Thursday. He’s able to join the team. He knows the defense. Will he actually go from not being with the team to seeing snaps?

I think he needs to be with the team for 7 days already. Only the Notre dame edge guy would be eligible this weekend I’m pretty sure.

I suppose that we can convince Pepper Rutland to fork over some dough.

I agree. Bad move on LSU's and Pyburn part....to just be a substitute DE. LSU has better players on the roster now.

He would be a contributor. He had preseason lead in sacks . He also had a lot of pressures last year that didn’t get home.

Jack will be making more than NFL league minimum guaranteed. Why would he go back?
He could be waiting on a travel squad spot with tampa bay.
