He’s not a bad coach. You don’t win as many games as he did by mistake. He just always choked in Omaha except in 2009. His time has ran out. Him not being able to win it all all of those years from 2012-2017 just killed him and his coaching ability. He was a great coach and I’m thankful for what he has done at LSU but it’s time for a change. New blood in this program is needed.

It’s clear he just doesn’t care anymore, he should return his salary for this past season because he certainly didn’t earn it.

I agree with you but I’d add his fathers passing as a major factor in the change of his energy level and demeanor.

I think it's unfair to say he just doesn't care. I too thank PM for all he's done. However his personality isn't one that will get average talent to play with heart and fire. He's too meek and soft spoken. Look at Van Horn in the dugout. I think he could just look at his players and make them shite down their legs if they screw up and don't play hard. Arky doesn't have the most talent of any teams, but they play hard and with heart. Teams take on the persona of their leadership, unfortunately for us, that's mild mannered PM

he's always been "good, but we can do better" regardless of whether or not the players respect him

it's the same deal as alabama football having coaches who can consistently win 10 games when they know somewhere there's nick saban

I think this was the final nail in the coffin for him. He should really just retire at the end of this season for his own dignity. He’s accomplished a lot and he just doesn’t seem to love the game as much anymore.

Yeah you do. You have unlimited resources and a field that rivals minor leagues.

CM isn’t going anywhere , but there will be some major coaching changes inside the staff if things don’t change.

Lots of injuries this year. You’re thoughts are premature. I’m not happy either.

I'm sorry anytime loses a loved one but I'm already tired of hearing the excuses about his dad dying.

The man was 90 years old and LSU had already gotten swept by Texas and dropped games to Cal and Northwestern St. by that time.

“there will be some major coaching changes inside the staff if things don’t change”

This is the bargaining stage, at least you’re past the denial stage and seem to be on your way to acceptance but changing assistants would be nothing but spinning our wheels at this point. It’s over and he should retire so that he isn’t forced out. He could save himself and the program a lot more misery if he just stepped down and hung it up.

The similarities between the Les Miles situation and how it unfolded and how things are playing out with PM are scary.

I’ve been thinking the same thing.

Very similar.

He was never a great coach. You can do wonders with talent that comes to your University based on the legacy built by those that came before you.

He needs to go.

The program is trending downward much like Miles' last few years. If you don't stop the bleeding soon the program will need a complete transfusion!

That’s not true. Smoke left a completely shite roster for Paul when he got here and he built it back into a title winner in 3 years. That was impressive.......the rest of the criticism is valid.

I dont think 2012 - 2017 killed it. Plenty of the head coaches the rant sucks off have similar six year stretches like corbin, bianco, and osullivan, where they dont win in omaha. And most of those guys are still doing it. Thats just the parity of the game
