Is that the only two options? 70 yds passing or 5 INTs? That sucks.

Defense was gassed by the 4th quarter. I saw Tre White looking like he was going to pass out. Really shouldn't happen in a first game.
Strategy almost cost LSU the game. It was left up to a kicker.

It worked out, but you can't always count on the other team not executing.
IMHO, this is a core aspect of Miles's game day philosophy -- put the opponent's offense into a position of making a damaging mistake.
It often works in college, but, sometimes, when the opponent executes, this game plan fails.
The reason why I prefer pro football over college is because this game plan of profiting off of the other side's amateur mistakes is largely absent, because there are no amateurs playing NFL football.

he didn't lose cause MSU missed a game winning field goal. Do you feel, that's what he was putting his team in position for, to actually have the other team have to make a play to decide victory?

LSU's OFFENSE, loaded at every position!!! LESS MILES has a WORLD CLASS SPORTS CAR and he will only drive it 55
He drive it like it's a 1975 Ford truck...oh wait his offensive philosophy is from 1975!

That is the problem Les is always playing not to lose, he didn't last night because of LSU extremely more superior talent, just look at the starters from both teams and look at their rankings when they signed. On paper this was a huge mismatch. They don't play the game on paper but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see this game should not have been this close 2 TD's minimum.
If you play not to lose you will eventually lose because you are going to run up against teams that have the chest and will and want to win.
One is just truly shocking is that we have absolutely no imagination on offense on how to pass the ball effectively. The drive that second to last drive that MSU pulled off to score their last TD was a thing of beauty. LSU literally could not do that because I don't think they ever practice that kind of drive in practice, and if they do they sure don't practice it enough. We ABSOLUTELY have the talent to pull off that kind of drive but I don't think it is practiced enough to be affective in succeeding. Just think if we could run those types of pass plays how unstoppable our offense would be.
I guess it is the fans faults because we actually think that a balanced offense is 50/50 run to pass ratio. We just don't understand that in Miles mind and world a 70/30 run to pass ratio is what he believes is balanced.
We are doomed, in the West you can not win it with 2 losses anymore and no way with that offense that was on display last night we will have less than 2 losses. What fans who are still on the Les bandwagon after last night can't "literally" understand is what happened.
MSU was worried in the 1st half that LSU might actually have a balanced attack and that everything they heard "like us LSU lemming fans" from Les would be true that we would be balanced. So they gave our offense some respect and didn't put 8 and 9 in the box. Midway through the 2nd qtr they figured it out, Miles is Miles and he will never change, so they started to stack the box and sure enough they started to stop us. Well that won't happen against Aub, you can bet Muschamp will not be fooled, he is going to challenge Miles right away he is going to stack the box and make Miles prove he can throw the ball. If LSU does not come up with an effective pass offensive scheme this week Aub is going to win. I hate to say it but it is true, Muschamp is too good a DC to let Miles get away with the BS he pulled last night

Why did Les insist on running LF exclusively when MSU kept loading the box to stop it late in game ? MSU's pass defense is not stellar or at least it wasn't against USM . LF was outstanding in 1st half but when MSU adjusted to stop the run for the most part Harris shoulda been given an op to burn them . He threw several good passes early

Actually USM had 300+ passing yards last week I believe. The only thing I'll give Les credit for is severe indigestion after I eat supper every Saturday night.

Why aren't State fans mad at Mullin for not trying a Hail Mary with a hot QB and big WRs? Instead he tries a kick that his kicker had very little chance of making. Why didn't he call a TO when they got the delay of game penalty?

Not true, we just want balance and to use all of our offensive weapons to keep the defense guessing and move the ball efficiently.
And just saying we won and nothing else matters. - that's too simplistic What if we win all of our cupcake games by 1 point with the opponent having a chance at the end. That doesn't matter to you? It does to me. It tells me we're not getting the maximum.production from our team.
You think Auburn fans are happy this morning? They won, after all.

Of course bad things happen sometimes. But far, far more often good things happen when you're aggressive and try to maximize the strengths of your team.

I agree we got too conservative for my liking last night. I know it is like sacrilege to say something like this on this board today, but, in my opinion, the players had more to do with last night's game being too close than the coaches.
The game plan was good. Open it up early, build a lead on the road, then get conservative late to preserve the win and let #7 take over. If not for Boutte and Diarse unnecesary holding, this would have been a rout with the game plan that everyone is blasting today. In addition, the taunting has to be addressed (also stupid and costly). Finally, the refs seemed to be looking our way more than MSU and also seemd to give MSU the benefit of the doubt (Dupre's catch).
had we played McNease as planned, most of the above would have been addressed in game 1, and last night would have been a much more impressive win.
