Has anyone tweeted this to that Athlon hack, and told him this is what a legit coaches ranking looks like.

You can argue some of the other coaches, but Spurrier behind Sumlin, Briles, and Petrino? Wow.

I agree w you. Sumlin with just 1 yr under his belt with a Heisman QB doesnt make u a top 10 HC just yet under any scenario. Houston doesnt count. And Petrino? When's the last time he even coached a game? He's classless. Saban's a jerk but he's not rotten to the core like Petrino. He is a str8 up douche bag. Theres a reason why he's at W KY. I dont believe any coach from a small school can be in the top 10 unless hes taken them to a BCS bowl and didnt get white washed.
Briles is the one that I can live with barely. He may be the best play caller in the country and has had immediate success at a tough place. He has at least shown he can run a good program for several years and has had some huge wins and a Heisman. But I can see your point, Spurrier belongs for sure and Mark Richt deserves more votes as well.

Can't argue with those rankings.
Weiss needs to just give up on college ball and head back to nfl.

Not a bad list, but imo Sumlin being in the top 10 is a knee jerk reaction. He'll probably be there in the next few years, but I would put Spurrier in the top 10, over Sumlin. I'm not sure about Broyles being in the top ten either.

im fine with everyone but Sumlin, thats a joke. dude has a heisman player who falls in his lap that he didnt even recruit and all of a suddent hes bear bryant.
manziel single handily won 4-5 games for them and they were a 6-6 team with an average QB and Sumlin isnt in the top 50.
i always got in an argument with my Aggie buddies because all they did was praise Sumlin and Kingsbury when Manziel would break off a 50 yard run. I was like, "you guys do realize that was a pass play that broke down because your O Line couldnt block and your QB scrambles 50 yards for his life and that makes Sumlin and Kingsbury a genius?"
i cant wait for that dude to leave college station so the faggies return to where they have been for the past century

He did go 11-2 his first year in the SEC. There are only so many ways to spin this as "luck".

Gary Patterson
He's done a good job considering where he is coaching at. Can't be a easy sell trying to get recruits to come and paly at TCU

Sumlin is flavor of the week coach.... Happens every year.
Without JM last year, a&m is 3-4 loss team.
Hell... la tech should have beat them.

I don't believe anyone is saying it was luck.
IMO, he needs continued success to be listed as a top ten coach in all of college football.

I'd take Patterson over Miles

First, IMO the best coach in college football is Bill Synder. Who else in college football could take HIS players and achieve HIS success? Answer...no one! The point could be made that he should recruit better so he doesn't have to overachieve. To that I say, this is Kansas State, NOT USC.
Second, if Nicky is so hot, why in 5 years at Michigan State did he not even win a Big 10 championship and Miles in his 1st year at LSU had a better record than Saban did the previous year at LSU. You know why Alabama has the advantage over LSU...it is NOT Saban over Miles...in fact Miles cuts the margin. It is the fact that historically Alabama wins more than LSU. After all, Gene Stallings won a NC at Alabama didn't he? GENE STALLINGS!!! 'nuff said!

I thought it a pretty good list though I would have put Spurrier in and dropped Petrino. Also try to find a place for Richt. But a pretty good list.
This. Spurrier's track record is much better than Petrino over all. What he has done at USCe is better than anyone before him. Petrino hasn't been any one place long enough with good enough results to even be considered on this list.

He's done better at TCU than Saban did at Michigan St. and Toledo.

I have no problem with Bill Snyder above Les Miles either. Not because he's more successful (he's obviously not) but out of that entire list of coaches he might be the only one who could have done as well as he's done at KSU. People would scream and laugh but you could put Bill at the #1 spot IMO.
And we'll see RE: Urban. That's a guy I'd rather have Les Miles instead of - he hasn't shown he can maintain a program at a high level and his championship programs at Florida got into as much trouble as the Miami Hurricane programs of 20 years ago.
