Give him his fricking wins.
The only argument that matters here is whether the $180k that Vadal Alexander’s dad received from John Paul Funes for an no-show job amounted to impermissible benefits.
None of the other shite - whether Miles was a good coach, whether he was a good person, where he ranks relative to other LSU coaches, why he got fired, his accomplishments, his errors - none of it matters at to whether “he” should get “his” wins back. If the Funes shite amounted to impermissible benefits, Alexander was ineligible and the penalty is what it is.
I think there are legitimate questions around whether it actually was a recruiting inducement vs. something else under Funes’ larger embezzlement scheme. But if this actually goes to trial, it will get rehashed because it’s the only logical argument anyone can make to reinstate the wins. If that happens you can bet the national story will not be objective/nuanced. It’ll be another round of “LSU stole from kids with cancer to buy players.”
I certainly would have preferred that we didn’t have to vacate the wins. But at this point I care a lot more about keeping that episode in the past than satisfying Miles’ desire for HOF eligibility. Y’all may feel differently and that’s fine. Just understand what you’re arguing for.

PS - Miles is not seeking $ or damages. He wants his wins reinstated for the purposes of awards/records/etc.
Back on the Les Miles bandwagon!!! lol.

Goddamn can't stand to listen to some of you dumb frick retards trash Les Miles, its like ya'll just picked up LSU Football at Nick Saban after he won the Natty. We had 10 win seasons with Les and 2 trips to the Natty and didnt get caught up in a Coaching Carousel for over 10 years like other programs have (UT or USC for example). Just a God awful fanbase, can't wait for you turds to pay hand over fist to fly to Vegas and show the world how trashy ya'll are when you're trashing Brian Kelly. Dude faded out on a bad note. Give him his fricking wins. Joe Pa got his wins back.

I see alot of posters aay any coach could've did it.. love what coach O did but he only gave us 2019 after that we had some of the worst defenses at LSU.. les was consistently winning 10/11 games. Les had horrible passing QBs but they ran it downhill through most SEC teams and top level teams also.. from what I hear Les didn't know what vadal was doing other than working for the hospital..

Orgeron went 5-5 and 6-7 without Burrow, Ensminger, Brady, and Aranda.
I don't like takes like this. Without Orgeron 2019 never happens and thats the honest truth.
Now, its also ok to say that without Orgeron, 2020 and 2021 also don't happen.
You cannot say things like "well without Burrow and Ensminger and Brady we would have sucked in 2019 and Oregon would have had a losing season.... He was the head of the program and he did have those people."
Orgeron made some great decisions for 2018 and 2019. I think if Chase doesn't sit out 2020 and Brennan doesn't get hurt we would have been better in 2020 than we were. But things happen and Orgeron and any head coach gets the praise and the blame.

The "what if" still does not fix the Pelini porous as a sieve defense of 2020, which was the major problem with that team.

Burrow fell into Ed O's lap. Ensminger knew how to use Burrow, and Ensminger got Joe Brady to help with the details.
No shite clown. Thanks for proving my point. That offense doesn't happen with Miles here. Borrow doesn't come
When Burrow left Ohio State, his options were LSU and Cincinnati, and this was before Cincy was given a playoff slot so they were basically a step above the MAC.
quote:He'd have done that speech for whoever his coach was.
In his Heisman speech, he focused on how instrumental O was in him coming to LSU...making a point to let the world know why he was at LSU and stayed.

Wade moved money FROM HIS OWN BANK ACCOUNT. NIL or not, that was an impressively stupid decision that still leads to sanctions.
Yeah. It’s next level stupid and illegal in today’s game with NIL. It’s just brain dead stupid.
LSU had nothing to do with the offenses of Will Wade yet they had to suffer the repercussions.
He’s a scumbag

Everyone thought Les was loyal to very bad coaches. He wasn't. He was simply terrified of how to move on to another...he had no clue what to do.
This just isn’t supported by the facts. He moved on from several defensive coordinators, always picking an excellent one.
His problem was on offense, where he just had a philosophy that was a little outdated.
