agree, let him have it, they gave Bush his Heisman back, and Ray Lewis is in the NFLHoF and is considered a hero

He is deluding himself if he thinks the CFHOF is going to even risk the backlash it would receive by putting him in the hall. It's a very sad addition to a very tragic figure.

if Barry Switzer is in there they're not concerned with integrity

It was a waste of time, hurt the program in the long run, hurt our school’s brand, and generally sucked. Anyone who remembers that moron fondly is just as stupid as he was
Legit one of the stupidest posts on the rant in some time

No matter how this turns out, he really doesn’t deserve Hall of Fame. So much talent wasted under that dumbfrick.

"The game against Wisconsin...."....this was his first game after committing to the A.D. that he would change his game planning. First play, Fournette is lined up, dotting the I". All 4 quarters, same game plan. Can still that that sideline shot, 4th quarter, where he's standing biden-like, frozen, dumbfounded.

Well, that's the topic of this thread.
OK, sure, but you said “it wasn’t right to pull wins from his record” as if it was targeted at him personally.

His record should stand.
But.. why? Are you arguing that LSU shouldn’t have vacated any wins, or are you arguing that he should be evaluated for the HOF based on his record including the wins that were vacated?

Mark Richt has lost control of Les Miles

quote:He was #2 in All time career wins at LSU before they vacated wins. He has the highest win percentage of any LSU coach that coached at least 30 games.
When I hear the name "Less Miles" I don't think HOF coach...
Good Coach... yea sure..
National champion
X2 national championship appearances
National COY
X2 SEC champion
SEC COY
5 11+ win seasons
7 10+ win seasons
7-4 bowl record at LSU
You can subjectively say Saban is the best football coach in LSU history if you want, but objectively, Les Miles is LSU's best football coach. When you're the best coach all time, of a historical top 10-12 program, you should 100% be in the CFB HOF.
Look, im pissed at the man too, but his accomplishments are his accomplishments. This wouldn't even be a damn debate had Oklahoma St never lost in 2011. LSU should have another championship. Luck was not on our side.

quote:no, Les recruited elite players so that we had an athletic superiority over most team we played. So we won a lot of games, but it was due to raw talent, and in spite of Miles.
but he was unquestionably one of the best college coaches for a good 5 to 7 year stretch. There were maybe 2-3 other coaches you'd have taken over him at he time, and he had wins over all of them.
Hell, Gene Chizik and Larry Coker won NCs. Bad coaches can win a lot of games.
Les was lucky to be in a state with a ton of talent, and no real in-state competition. He kept most La kids, grabbed a few others from out-of-state, and we won on talent alone.
He was a poor game planner and a poor in-game coach. Yet he had enough talent to mask his weaknesses as a coach, and we won a lot of games.

And the biggest mistake in Les' tenure at LSU was his not being fired for cause...about the only thing I ever agreed with Joe Alleva about.

LSU did not vacate wins because of Les Miles. LSU vacated wins because of the OLOL Foundation scandal and Will Wade.
So, the NCAA couldn't prove any allegations vs Wade, so they fired him to protect the football program which they could prove was dirty under Miles?
