I have thought the same as stated in the article relative to the coaching job the staff has done since the early season meltdown.

Realistically though, this article (like my thoughts on the topic) are conditioned on the use of the term "if" as in "if" the team can push through and win out or lose only one (1) more game.

Good grief people. I will wait for this vibe of positivity, if heavens forbid, LSU loses a close game a la 2012, another night game in Death Valley they should have won despite dominating Bama.
I will still maintain that he is the best coach in LSU history. But it wouldn't surprise me to find some of you horde of bandwagoners call for his head!

Nor I, because a large portion of our fan base is idiotic...but that doesn't make your initial suggestion that he may have underachieved any less unnecessary.

It baffles me that any LSU fan could have significant problems with Les.

I sat through Archer, Hallman, and DiNardo...

People think we can't turn into Texas, Michigan, Notre Dame (previously) because we are "LSU" ?

GMAFB-it could happen.

It's tough to be the guy after the guy, but Les has proved to be a better coach for LSU than he was.

Some men (fans) you just can't reach...

Hard to fathom the discontent for Miles.
A reasonable person can only assume that these malcontents live perfect lives...these are the golden years of Tiger Football and all some can do is complain...
There are 14 SEC teams.
Ole Miss hasn't been to the championship game since 1963. They have never won the West.
State hasn't seen a championship since 1941.
LSU fans are lucky, as far as fan bases geaux.

I think Miles has done a much better job than Saban, and his record at LSU proves it.

I agree VetteGuy, I just hope for the anti Miles posters that they are under 30. All LSU fans have been spoiled this century, but some of us at least have perspective because we lived through some very weak teams at LSU in the 90's and before.

"The Dark Years"

My first year regularly attending was Archer's first year. 10-1, not bad.

Then the Decline started...

So you are saying when #5 LSU lost to #1 Alabama in 2012 (a game where Alabama was an 8 point favorite) Les was underachieving?

No one is asking you to agree with everything that Les Miles does.

I, myself, have bones to pick with him for things that have occurred in his tenure at LSU. But the fact remains, that considering the body of work that he has accomplished while at LSU, in no way can he be considered to have underachieved.

When you say that, you betray a deep resentment of the man. Maybe you need to learn to be more subtle.

How does being the most successful HC in LSU history as well as being one of most successful in the BCS/SEC equate to underachieving??? Not to mention that all this was done when the SEC has never been a stronger football conference.

Each to our own, but that does not begin to compute.

It's because you're not looking at his tenure through the same filter these folks do. This filter does not allow them to see what actually has happened, only what could have happened. Or, more precisely, what SHOULD have happened.

When you start off assuming that things SHOULD have been better...not COULD have, then you're just never going to be happy, regardless of how good things are. The greatest run in the program's history pales in comparison to the mythical run Miles SHOULD HAVE had if they'd have won in 2006 and 2011 and 2012...in these people's minds.

He hasn't underachieved in any category at all. This thread is dumb other than Chavis' comments

I think some people also equate the occasional gaffe with underachievement. Sure, Miles has had his gaffes (just like Saban, et al), it's inevitable in an imperfect game. But he is an unequivocal success on balance.

I would not trade him for any other coach, and I don't think his players would either.

Just a guess here, but if OP hadn't written his last sentence, he wouldn't have nearly so many down votes.

We will beat Bama's arse on the field Saturday and regain any lost momentum from the past few seasons. LSU will begin its rise to the top of CFB after this win.
