Did a good job at San Jose State, still waiting for the "turn around" at Colorado though. He hasn't won 5 games in CO yet.

"Good" job at San Jose St. is an understatement.

quote:

San Jose State began the 2012 season 4–1, the best start since the 2006 New Mexico Bowl championship season.[31] The Spartans finished the regular season with a six-game winning streak and a 10-2 record—only two years removed from a 1-12 season—and for the first time in school history the Spartans earned a final end-of-season BCS ranking (#24).[32] The Spartans also finished the regular season with a #24 ranking in both the AP Poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll.

Not all programs are overnight rebuilds.

Now take a look where San Jose is today as well

3 head coaching jobs
3 failures.
1 was a nfl job with the worst run franchise in the league. No coach has been successful at Oakland since Gruden. Plus NFL failure has nothing to do with being a great college coach. Saban and Pete washed out of the nfl.

The UT job wasn't really a fail. He followed a rotted out coach and his one season they made noise. its more of an incomplete.

USC was a failure. I still stand by it was a mistake to take over usc while they were under sanctions.

The main concern with LK should be rather he can manage the day to day things that a head coach manages. we know the offense will be lights out under him, and he appears to be smart enough to allow Aranda/O to run the defense and he wont go over and interfere with it.

So it all comes down to the behind the scenes being a head coach for him.

Sticking with my guns saying Kiffin is a fringe P5 coach. Something like Kentucky, NC St., or Kansas St.

If we're not going after atom Herman, we're doing it wrong.

One name I have not seen is Cutcliffe.
1. he has Duke playing well
2. he obviously knows the south recruiting wise
3. he can probably be hired on the cheap side AND talked into keeping his defensive staff
4. and last, but not least...IIRC he was an Aleva hire

I am not saying he is the best available, but that he should be mentioned as I see him getting serious consideration.

Some people just don't want a scumbag at head coach
id like those people to tell me they wouldn't take Nick Saban back as our coach. Almost every coach is a scumbag off the field. I don't really care if a coach wants to get some action on the sideline. I don't care if they ruffle feathers like LK does.

I think a far bigger concern than who a coach is dicking on the side would be something like Briles where you have an out of control football team or Franklin.

Petrino made a huge mistake putting his piece on the payroll and that opened up arky to a real potential for legal issues. However, I think Petrino is smarter than miles and learns from mistakes. So if he still wants a side piece he wont be putting her on the state payroll.

Paul Chryst is a Wisconsin alum. It's his dream job-won't go anywhere.

while it maybe, we can bring the bank.

Wisconsin has shown the inability to pay for coaches. It is why Bert left them to come to arky. Their AD is cheap as frick.

Any of u MFers that say you wouldn't take lane kiffen in a heartbeat r so full of shite! Hell I would take him quick. As long as we keep the rest of the staff in place. Do u realize how close we r to having a top 3 staff in the country? All we need is a coach that can develop QBs. Well frick....I'd say he has done pretty good there.

frick off if u say u wouldn't take him.

Id prefer him earn his sea legs that way on his route back to a head coach but Id still take him over the current version of Les Miles that we have. I don't think he is number 1 but if the top tier isn't coming then he needs an interview to state his case. If he comes in with a real legit plan to make us great again then i wouldn't oppose the hire.

Honestly though at this point id take alot of coaches over les miles. James Franklin not being one of them. I wish our fans would stop posting hot names from 5 years ago.

Have the state pay Herman 1.00 annually and TAF will pick up the rest.
I swear I will lose my head if I start to hear about state budgets.

I would promote Aranda for a few seasons and let him bring in another younger coach for offensive coordinator that he is comfortable with. He is a future great head coach. Why not here? Why not now?

no on cut, it might be better to keep les at this point.

he is old as frick, and i highly doubt he has the stomach for a real job. Duke is a nice easy low expectation job.
