As far as BR, There ARE nice places to live. Conversely, there are a lot of shitty parts of Houston.

I agree that the same folks bitching about Les ( I mean with stupid shite not basic criticism) will turn on the new guy sooner than later

All that said we can get just about anyone but about 5 guys

Because other than Kirby Smart, folks can stand working for Saban for only so long. They obviously have some tension and by all reports O and Kiffin have a great relationship.

Old reputation that is changing. Houston has money boosters that would run circles around ours.

There is a price of admission to the Big XII and whatever it is, Fertitta will write the check

I don't know the details of the politics but from the outside Texas is the big boy on the block so id guess most of the politicians in the state went to Texas. Plus no way would Tech out in west texas be for houston coming into the conference. Also why would Baylor or TCU and their politicians back this.

I would be highly surprised if houston got in, they have a good football team for now. Then everything else is pretty hit or miss. I know baseball was good enough to rail us 3 years ago.

I'm just not seeing the benefit to Texas. Texas has no reason at all to want Houston in their conference. Then throw in the little bros of texas and they have even more to lose. I could be wrong but I'm just not seeing the old swc gang wanting them to crash the party.

LSU fans always say that and we always hire a Tier B or Tier C guy. Like the Pat Sullivan/Gerry Dinardo situation in 1994/95. Or all the crazy names bandied about after Dinardo resigned in 1999. OR when Saban bolted on Christmas Eve in 2004.

Now, we got lucky with Saban, but he was by no means a home run hire at the time - maybe a B+ type hire as he was well regarded. Dinardo wasn't bad for a turnaround guy and Les, it can be said, overperformed expectations, at least for 6 or 7 seasons.

But, this hire CAN go badly and likely will with the current environment and leadership of the university itself and of the athletic department specifically. I'm just calling them like I see them. This is partially the reason I stuck with Miles for as long as I did - probably 2 seasons too long. This very risky process that we are highly likely to screw up.

So you're just a babbling buffoon is that right? You've provided zero adult replies, but you've used emojis like a 6 year old who just learned what they are.

All this coaches are legit names to throw into the ring. MacIntyre with a whooping one winning season and Whittingham with a mediocre pass offense is not something I care to see. Nor a failing Lane Kiffin, nor Pat Fitzgerald who runs an eyesore of an offense. I get it a strict private academic school, but your offense shouldn't be so awful.

I've picked coaches that not only have team success as HCs, but run successful offenses, and are also realistic options.

You guys have pretty much whined at everybody not named Herman or Fisher (and even some people have whined about him). You don't won't Petrino because he's an a-hole, you don't want Fedora because he's only maintained programs instead of build upon them, you don't want Gundy because he lost to Central Michigan? Didn't Saban lose to UAB and ULM while coaching at Bama/LSU?

We LSU fans think WAY too high of our program. Everybody starts from somewhere. Again, all my options are legit options. Didn't mention taking Fisher who is making like 5 mill or more, didn't mention Dabo who has turned Clemson into a top team (a bit shaky this year though). I didn't name Patterson as he seems like he is content, nor Dantonio because he is old, has health problems, and already makes a good bit a Mich St.

Freeze might be a good option. He's turned that program around plus they might have NCAA sanctions coming up.

Lane won't entertain any situation on a trial basis.

That's where you lost me....respond to that, not about good relationships. He isn't doing anything on a trial basis because of friendships. It's a cutthroat business and the guy can get a lot of O coordinator jobs with zero stipulations....baw.

I used awkward language - O would have to agree to keep him on a short leash - i.e. away from female employees, students, etc. He's getting too old for all that. And, all of his *ahem* non-traditional recruiting methods.

That's what I meant - not "trial" but, short leash.

No program in the Big 12 benefits from a Houston in the conference. Don't see them extending an invitation

1) Houston brings no new media market
2) Houston will only decrease the amount of money each Big 12 program receives from the conference. I don't see OU, OSU, WKU, etc agreeing to receiving less money per year

Adding Houston would also immediately steal recruits left and right from most of the current BIg 12 schools.

Major Applewhite needs to be catapulted to the top of any list. Homegrown and was a hell of a quarterback. Houstons offensive coordinator, the brains behind Herman. I think we will miss a hidden gem
