Most of them couldn’t tell you who Bear Bryant was so I’m sure they don’t know who JR is.
too much value is placed on "what will the recruit(or his parent(s) think?" doubt if there's an incoming LSU recruit that knows who Mauck or Flynn is either

Saban decided to hire dj durkin as an analyst, I'll take robinson

How will Lsu afford his 50 Gs a year salary?
He will take another guys spot.. No he wont , there should still be a couple spots open...
Did we hire one since last year? Had 10 last year with a possible 13,based on the rules of number of analyst. We Prolly lost some since then too.

You’d defend Orgeron if he hired Charles Manson as a consultant. It’s obvious you can’t be objective in any way when it comes to Orgeron.

I'm not defending anyone. I'm just not retarded like you to meltdown over the hiring of a consultant.

Skip Bertman is 81

Who here would laugh at a college baseball coach that had Skip as a special consultant?
I have no idea of his duties or his mental acuity. But, I don't have any reason to think it is sillier than hiring Bertman.
I am not knocking the hire, but I disagree with this comment.
In no way shape or form would I compare Bertman to Robinson.
Robinson is closer to Les Miles. Robinson inherited a well oiled machine and won a title.
Bertman took on a program that had done absolutely nothing. He built it into the premier program of the last 40 years and redefined college baseball itself. He turned LSU into the model that other programs have copied. Without Skip Bertman college baseball wouldn't be what it is today.
It is a insult to Bertman to compare him to Robinson.

My only question is what can he really contribute? What can he really help O with? I see people say it is because of his contacts in California. Well shouldn't Orgeron already have all of these same contacts? Wouldn't Aranda have the same also, he is a Cali guy. Just curious what he will be consulting on.

He was 67-14-2 in his first stint at SC. That's 81%

Bertman is widely considered one to be a top 3 all time college baseball coach and he won 5 CWS in the last 30 years
This guy won 1 NC 41 years ago and hasn’t had a top 10 college finish since 1979.

He would be a liason to the HS head coach in that instance. He can't recruit, But he can help establish relationships between our recruiters and the school.

Bunch of haters in here who think it can't help to have some wisdom added to the program. Seriously, some of you sound like these leftist panty-wads who only think our country can be saved by millennials. Grow the frick up ladies.

They are the embarrassing group of people I’ve ever encountered on this board.
Just don’t know when to give it up.

Did you wake up this morning thinking “how can I turn something political out of something that has zero to do with politics”

You guys will complain about anything. It used to be that we didn't staff up like Bama. Now you bitch about this. If you don't have mentors or sounding boards in your professional life, give it a try. It's a thing.
Bama isn't hiring 90 year olds to help run the program. They hired Saban to do that.
