Leaving Orgeron as coach until the end of season could be bad for recruiting

With how Orgeron has bashed coaches after they left does anybody believe Orgeron will really try to help with recruiting on his way out the door? Orgeron comes across to me as somebody who would sabotage the next coach. Is this a concern for anybody else?

LSU will have mass transfers, think Tennessee.

Recruiting is likely to have some set backs no matter what. Tell me how getting rid of him, and putting in an interim makes recruiting any better? That interim coach would know they have zero shot at getting the job, and would also likely not be retained.

Either way we won't know who the next coach will be until after the season, most likely, so the early signing period will be tough to salvage.

You think Woodward doesn't have a very firm grasp on what Ed is doing on the recruiting trail?

What is it going to take for all of you to realize Woodward is an exceptionally detail oriented professional. He won't stand for any further shenanigans from Ed and I'm certain that's been communicated very clearly to him.

What’s he gonna do, fire him?

Yes -- he's still under contract. It didn't just go away because a resignation has been negotiated.

You were bitching about his contract the other day.

I wasn’t bitching. I was providing a reality check that Woodward basically guaranteed his contract for no good reason at all, and the folks who worship Woodward didn’t want to accept that

I do not believe this. The man is still a good recruiter who loves LSU

Every reason to believe he will actually help facilitate transition

It's over. Some of those Asst's are still coaching for a job next year...Db's and Wr's Coaches come to mind. They should still be recruiting their asses off.

Depends on what is in any additional agreement.

Transfers are the name of the game, plus at the money pay to play is basically here.

I expect mass transfers and this season I wouldn't be surprised by players just sitting now... they already were. Woodward couldn't afford for LSU to win a few games.

It would come out immediately if he tried to sabotage anything.

That’s not something that can be kept quiet.

I dislike the idea of retaining him until the end of the season. I doubt it offers continuity in recruiting, and too many bad things can happen.

I get the sense you want this to be true, more than it being reality. Unfortunate, for an alleged Tiger fan.

I haven't seen much to indicate, otherwise, at least. Regardless, this move needed to be made sooner rather than later; as I've said before, delaying the inevitable rarely produces better results.

Woodward needs as many losses as possible which is why all the leaks. LSU just beat #20 with #12 on deck. Leaks make sense because the alternative was a possible problem.

That's the reality of college sports bro. As far as my status, not sure I'm a fan of LSU the school at this point. Looks like a dumpster fire.

Transferring is easy, the kids have value, and a good recruiter has value. Duhhhhh. There isn't anything complex about this.

That's college sports now... you sit if you want, you transfer if you want.

I’m sure his multimillion dollar buyout is tied to good behavior

We'll see how things turn out. It's out of my hands. The change needed to be made, regardless.
